Re: Fractal Design R5 build

I'm leaning towards an R5 for my next build.

I'm wondering about SSD placement. I'm thinking I might rather have it in the drive cage than on the back of the case where the 'SSD' slot is. Better airflow, lower temperatures.

Any thoughts on that?

Re: My silent Fractal R5 Workstation / Gaming

Help me out here... I always wonder why people replace fans.

This comes with two fans, yes, one in the front and one in the back?

Are they not up to the job?

Re: Corsair Carbide 500R Performance Mid-Tower

I've had a system in this case for three years now.

Love it to death. No problems with fan noise and it runs cool and quiet.

If I built another rig now I can't think of any other case I'd prefer to this one.

Re: How do I get into my BIOS with a Corsair keyboard?

I just got off the phone with Corsair tech support. He said this is a 'known issue' with some motherboards. We tried changing the polling rate - it made no difference. I'm using an ASRock P67 LGA 1155. It's four years old. He said it is just (wait for it) NOT GOING TO WORK. Great. So I'm buying a ch...

Re: How do I get into my BIOS with a Corsair keyboard?

But it doesn't 'turn on' until Windows starts up. Is this a common thing with USB keyboards these days? How can you get into your BIOS if by the time the keyboard is active you're already at the Windows start up screen? That's the first I heard of a wired, supposedly standard USB keyboard doing tha...

Re: How do I get into my BIOS with a Corsair keyboard?

Well, if you weren't so quick to snark, you would have noticed that I used a Corsair USB keyboard and a different key to get into BIOS, telling you that: a) it isn't a Corsair USB keyboard problem b) if the F2 key isn't active during boot, perhaps the delete key is. WHEN THE KEYBOARD IS NOT 'ACTIVE...

Re: How do I get into my BIOS with a Corsair keyboard?

I hit the Delete key to get into BIOS setup during boot. Works fine with my Corsair USB keyboard. I'm happy for you. But as I said, my keyboard does not 'WAKE UP' until Windows start to load. So I've blown past the BIOS setup option before I can use my keyboard. Is this a Corsair problem? An ASRock...

Windows 10 Retail doesn't come on cd anymore?

I can't find it anywhere. All I can find is the 'usb drive' version.

Two things with that:

1) CD's will be readable forever. Don't thumb drives go bad?

2) You can tell your PC to boot from the optical drive in BIOS. Can motherboards now be told to boot from a thumb drive?

Re: How do I get into my BIOS with a Corsair keyboard?

An update - weird stuff happening: I just took my case out on the porch to clean it with some compress air. Jeez, it was a mess. Should have done this months ago. When I tried to boot it hung at the startup (bios, not windows) screen. I thought it wasn't finding the hard drive so I messed with that ...

How do I get into my BIOS with a Corsair keyboard?

I recently replaced my 'getting pretty old' keyboard with a Corsair. I'm really happy with it - works great, feels great, looks great. But it doesn't 'turn on' until Windows starts up. Is this a common thing with USB keyboards these days? How can you get into your BIOS if by the time the keyboard is...

I need an adaptor kit to put an SSD in my Antec case

My Antec case has a standard hard drive cage at the bottom and front of the case. I bought an SSD and a Rosewill adaptor. It's easy enough to put the SSD in the Rosewill, but the Rosewill no way fits into the standard hard drive cage - it's way too short and the screws don't begin to line up. All th...

Corsair 600T review

Newegg has these in stock. http://techreport.com/articles.x/19638 The numbers above tell us a couple of things. First, running the fans at full blast doesn't reduce temperatures all that much. Even under a very heavy load, we only registered a 3-4°C delta between the lowest and highest fan speeds. ...

5400 or 7200 RPM drive for media storage?

This will probably end up in a NAS and will have about 300gig of FLAC files on it - nothing else. I've read that 5400 will be cooler and quieter. I'm concerned that the 'cool and quiet' part of that will be more theoretical and won't really offer any improvement. But I'll spend 10 hours to do a back...

Like these guys videos and I think that a well done video is optimal for reviewing a case. Of all the open mesh front cases I've seen and sighed at for the last couple of years (I'm fed up with mesh fronts from having a Stacker), this at least isn't too ugly. A bit too much plastic maybe and anythi...

Anyone have one? I like that it's a mid-tower but you can still put a LOOONG video card in it. Also, the dust traps in the front look easy to maintain. And it's not an Antec. Getting a little tired of Antec here. All comments welcome. Nice video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64JDcsyQqt8&feature=pl...

I'm a PC gamer and have been reading this site for years. I've gotten tips on what cases to buy, fans, etc. Now I'm thinking about building a dedicated Music server to put in my music room. It wouldn't run games, it wouldn't run email, office, none of that. It would have a one terrabye hard-drive wi...

When I see a PM it stays in my 'Outbox' and never gets to the 'Sentbox'.

If this works like anything else (hotmail, outlook, etc) the 'Outbox' is where things sit waiting to be sent.

So I do I SEND emails?????

Thanks for any help.

Brand new Antec Solo, in box, never used

With two custom fans. Half price. I'm in Phoenix and have tons of feedback on ebay and agon.

I bought this but never built it and my new videocard won't fit.

Damn, I hate it when that happens.

Email if questions. Smokin deal for someone.

Shoot. I just found out you can't put a fan in front of the Sonata II to cool your hard-drives. That's one difference between it and the Solo right there.

17" tall case - Sonata II vs Solo?

I'm going to pull my gaming system (due core 6800, geforce 8800) out of the P180 it's in now. I want a case that fits under my desk, and I'm tired of the huge size of the 180. I'm thinking of a Solo, but I have access to an older case, a Sonata II. Any thoughts on those two cases? I'm not extreme on...
