Thanks for the review
There's also a smaller version available - the True Spirit 90M, with a 92mm fan and total height 125,05mm.

Re: Intel Next Unit of Computing Kit DC3217BY
Either HDMI or DisplayPort. All modern AV receivers have the former, but not sure whether DP is as widely implemented. It's a shame... AV receivers don't age as fast as computers and can be a lot pricier, especially the quality ones. Not having the HDMI port doesn't warrant a change for a new model...

Re: Intel Next Unit of Computing Kit DC3217BY
Any chance to test the audio quality? This might be a tempting option for a media computer, but there's no optical nor analog output. How do you hook it to an amplituner?

Nice, you've got a DIY Fortress FT02 ;) I like the... uhmm... upholstery :D I have to ask though... as much as I understand the need to build things just for the pure pleasure of creation/tinkering, I don't quite get the logic behind investing both time and money in a near-silent case and then tucki...

This is just one product; I wouldn't write off or judge the entire brand based on this review. I have in hand a couple of very promising Seasonic-made gold & platinum 80+ PSUs from bequiet! that I'll be tackling soon. Well, I had a very bad experience with their PSU (they weren't always made by Sea...

BeQuiet! is on my personal short list of manufacturers I avoid. I used to have a PSU made by them, which died in a cloud of smoke and they refused to honor the warranty. From what I've seen in this review, their quality control is still a joke.

Thanks for the review! :) It's exciting to see a cooler potentially useful for a single moving part PC. Couple of points though, regarding the review: 1. Would you mind trying ducting the cooler to the rear exhaust? A simple cardboard channel might be all it takes to make it the semi-passive solutio...

Does anyone else think that this case looks a bit retro? A bit like those beige boxes we used to have in the 90s.

Oh dear, this Velociraptor sounds like something hidden inside a beige 486DX box, loading the finishing move in Mortal Kombat or a new level in Doom2. I mean, I haven't heard such rattle since childhood, so a big plus for nostalgia

Re: CoolerMaster Silent Pro M - 600 or 700w? (noise level)
I once bought a coolermaster PSU with the word silent or quiet in its title. I will never forgive them. It was the loudest PC component I ever heard. We've been using the same Coolermaster Silent Pro M700 in case testing for many years. It is extremely quiet, and it has withstood all of the abuses ...

I can't remember any SPRC test where the Nexus reference fans didn't fail to best the stock fans. Can you? EVGA - a manufacturer I've learnt to avoid - has announced a new motherboard, the Z77. The thing is, this model features a fan cooling solution for the chipset. I haven't seen a fan on a motherboard since maybe nforce2! Other producers don't seem to need active cooling for this (or any) chipset. htt...

Though they look very stylish and sleek, I could do without that blatant marketing BS: "anti-vibration design with sturdy aluminum frame" "the all aluminum design also helps with efficient thermal cooling" Also, 200mm front and 140mm top fans don't look to be of quiet variety. I hope SPCR is going t...

Hi sinLog. Wondering if you've made your decision already? If you're still considering the PC-A04 I just completed a quiet build with that case. While it's definitely possible to make the case quiet with good component selection, I think that silent may be out of the question. The aluminum just pic...

Very clean and classy build! I like it a lot
Two questions:
1. Isn't it too hot for the HDD in there? It is a tight space, and you also blocked the airflow with the foam.
2. Have you tried reducing the number of case fans? With no GPU, the system should be fine with just the exhaust fan.

Re: Full D.I.Y. mATX slim-line HTPC
The duct is impressive, however, have you considered putting a single 90* elbow and exhausting the hot air through the top lid? You know, vertically. This would reduce the back-pressure somewhat.
Otherwise, your build is indeed an original design.

I wonder how it would fare with my overclocked i5 2500K, which caused 3 consecutive otherwise-quiet PSUs to whine and squeal in pain. :) This was confirmed by other users - overclocking i5 causes high pitch whine in PSUs. I think you should assemble an ITX system in it, just for the fun of it. Also, it can be made more powerful than your test rig ;) In fact, it can be as powerful as a full-grown single-GPU ATX system.
