Doesn't that depend on the resolution? What resolution are we talking here?

Re: I need a new video card.

Sandybridge is supposed to be fine for playing HD video, and can assist in transcoding. I don't get why you need discrete graphics.

The cp850 also gives more head room for aging parts in the PSU and for upgrades.

To find the "greenest" CPU, first determine what you need to do. Then, find the processors capable of doing that task. Take the one that is capable of performing that task and that consumes the least power. It's wasteful to buy more CPU than you need, and it's wasteful to buy a CPU that can't do wha...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's because the AC/DC conversion is more efficient at higher AC input voltages.

If I waited for that, I'd never buy SSD's until all my hard drives have failed or I build a new PC. :P Anyway, I think I'll wait until SSD's drop to ~$1.75/GB. 60GB is just cutting it too close for the things I want it to store (os+programs+games). :) Then that's how long you should wait. To put it...

I have a Zotac and Gigabyte H55 board and they both got it wrong. Really annoying. I think the best solution, as suggested, is to send them an e-mail before buying.

Always put off your purchases until you really need them. That's the simplest way, in my opinion, of avoiding the trap of always waiting for the next revision.

Question: does the pci express x16 slot accept any cards besides graphics cards? (such as TV tuners) My experience with two other H55 boards (including the earlier Zotac model) tells me that non-graphics cards are not supported, which is a bummer.

I mean G3 80GB will be priced the same as G2 80GB prices today. That's based on the assumption that they operate at higher speeds, possibly the next SATA revision. The reasoning is that higher speeds will provide value over the older generation, and Intel wants to keep its margins high. So they'll d...

I have a micro-ATX case and find it easy enough, although I'm sure a larger case would be even easier. The bigger issues are fewer ports, fewer drives, and smaller graphics cards and the like.

My guess is that the G3 drives will be priced the same as G2 drives are now, and they will drop prices on G2. Then maybe 3 months later prices on G3 drives will begin to fall.

I think the aesthetics of the 3480 are fine. You can fit 1 3.5" hard drive in the second optical bay, and one on the foot of the case. The lower one might prevent you from installing a card in the lowest slot (I can fit one, but barely). As for 2.5" drives, if they are solid state, they can go prett...
