Re: Where can I find Noiseblocker or Scythe fans in the US?
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com still lists several 92mm and 120mm Scythe fans. I've never had an issue when dealing with them.

Re: How are Gelid Fans in general?
For what it's worth... I mounted one Silent 12 PWM pushing through a Zalman CNPS10X on a Phenom II 940 in an Antec NSK4800. Fan was unnoticeable around 750 RPM (as reported by the ASRock mobo). Only heard it when I stuck my head in the case, and even then it was a nice smooth hum; one of the best so...

Re: Silent CPU cooler for socket A?
To the best of my knowledge there is no Socket A fan left on the market that is reasonably silent. The best you could hope for is to find an older model on ebay or some such, or to buy the largest heatsink you can find and mount a better (scythe?) fan onto it. Hopefully someone else can provide a be...

M4A785-M product page: http://asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=ef0qgvMIwOUagAVl&templete=2 I believe you'll find memory support information on each respective product's page. An older 780G Asus board had no trouble with 2 gigs of Kingston (DDR2 800), for whatever that's worth. I've built 7 780G or 785G sy...

I use a Pro82+ 425W in my system- close enough, I think. Unless you ramp the power load up fairly close to the max, you won't notice the fan noise. You might hear it, but it's an extremely soft, low hum, not whiny or obtrusive. I've been running this unit for about a year without any noticeable chan...

I'll bet the Antec 380 isn't as quiet as you're looking for. I've built several systems with them, and I've noticed the fan on every one. I've heard a few quiet FSPs, but reliability on the midrange seems to be an issue with them, so I've never been willing to try the higher end. If I could get one ...

I'm very curious to know more about the the transfer mechanism to the cooling wall. I can think of a few ways it might be achieved, but I'm wondering how involved (read: expensive) the method is here. Regardless, that's genius. I can think of a lot of people (myself included) who'd enjoy a PC with t...

The 4850e is a 45W CPU, and when idle it runs VERY cool (I have two, I know). To run an AMD quad that won't cook your dinner under load, one would have to wait for an e-series Deneb, which will certainly be more expensive, or wait for an e-series Propus, which won't have L3 cache (Athlon II). Much a...
