Re: My new SP2504C is driving me nuts!
There's no metal to metal contact and it's insulated with HDD Shell II. The noise amplifies with 1 second cycle and it's like wwhhHUMmm.. ..wwhhHUMmm.. ..wwhhHUMmm.. What you're hearing is the beat note between your two HDDs. It's not the fault of either HDD; it's the fault of both HDDs. Suspending...

Antec Super Lanboy resonance?
I know this is not the best case for quiet, but it was, say the magic words, ON SALE, and I vaguely remembered a decent spcr review for it, so I bought it. anway, I'm now running the fans at 7V (5V just raises the temps too much for me), the CPU fan is akasa amber 92mm @800rpm on idle, the PS fan is...

Yate Loon D12SL-12 @7V or Nexus 120mm real quiet case fan?
I've read the Nexus (at least the orange one) is just the yate loon w/ reduced rpm. I can get 2 yate loon+shipping for the price of 1 nexus. I'm thinking of getting the yate loon and run it at 7V, but maybe that will reduce CFM too much. I'm using it to replace a noisy psu fan. If someone is running...

P150: does drive suspension increase disk temp?
I have a WD 2500 KS suspended in a P150. I have tri-cool fan set to low. XP90 with 92mm akasa quiet fan on CPU. No other fan. No other drive. S.M.A.R.T. reports my drive temp at 50-61C !! I did a speedfan detailed analysis that shows my drive fitness = 97% and performance = 100%. Is the temp reading...

Re: NeoHE Woes
Basically, the switchoff problem occurs as the minimum current on a 12V rail for ATX12V is 1 amp, and if you try and draw less than an amp the rail wont turn on - it just powers off as soon as you turn the machine on, or when the rail draws less than an amp for 'a while'. Obviously newer mobos and ...

XP-90L should it blow down or up?
in a P150, should a XP-90 blow down or up? Seems like blowing down will help cool the mobo and chipset, too. OTOH, I would be drawing the case's hot air down to the CPU. opinions?

Antec P150's NeoHE won't post but Antec won't RMA. Help?
I bought a P150 and MSI K8NGM2. the included psu NeoHE 430 powers up but mobo won't post. I called antec and rep told me the mobo requires a -5V line which the NeoHE 430 doesn't have. Told me the psu is too advanced for my mobo and I should get a ATX 1.3. This is a new mobo with a new chipset! Well,...

Safe to buy Maxtor
I was going to go with a SATA Seagate Barracuda for a new rig, but it seems acoustic in the new seagates isn't the same as the old Barracudas. So now I'm looking at Maxtor diamondmax 10. High performance, decent review on spcr, and some models have 5yr warranty. A bit cheaper too. However, my experi...

Yate Loom D12SM-12 vs D12SL-12 model (M vs L)
Hi I want the L version (less noise, but less cfm too of course). But I rather like the M version which comes in a nice LED blue whereas the L version comes in black or orange (hey I'm shallow). The M version is also cheaper and more widely available. Is it possible to get the M version and run it l...

Please critique/advise my (newbie) AMD X2 3800+ system
Hi I'm a newbie building system for programming, web design, video encoding, and gaming. Aiming for a quiet (not necessarily silent) system. Thanks all for the many suggestions. I think the 3700BQE fits most of my needs. and relatively inexpensive too. The drawback is the weight (23lbs). tom brown: I like your box case :) coolcolJ: I thought the max for P4C is around 3.4Ghz. How did you get it to 3.5? Did you play with the voltage? What ...

Help, I'm going insane picking a case
I'm going to build a PC I hope to be quiet. I'm more sensitive to noise than the avg. user, but I don't think I'm as picky about it as some of you folks here. So I'm not looking to make the PC silent, just quiet under light load (e.g., not playing 3D game or rendering a video file). I'll use it for ...

Quiet pre-built system?
Due to physical handicaps, I can't build my own system. So I have to buy a pre-built one. I have a Dell Dimension at work, and it's pretty quiet. But I don't want to buy a Dell for home b/c I think the new case is really ugly and I'd like to have more control over components. So I'm looking at ABS C...
