ALERT:
The fan placed on the TOP of the case, started to do a TICKING noise in the speed range from 950 to 1150 rpm!!!
At other speeds it's silent.
I really don't know if this thing started now or if it was from the beginning and I didn't notice.
The other fan (front case) is ok

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)
Well, bigger fans rotate slower, so any noise they make will have a lower pitch. The only reason I bought a new computer was because the tiny fan in my laptop was driving me up the wall. That is true on the paper, but in the real world, nowadays 120mm fans are quieter than 140mm, even if they rotat...

Well, that is not trueFrank Benign wrote:Sigh... I wish the Antec P183 would be able to accomodate 140mm fans as case fans. They are much quieter.
120mm fans are quite always better than 140mm....there are so many examples about it

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)
You are welcome
By the way, if you want you can try one of the fan you have on the heatsink to tell us an opinion, two is better than one
About the cable, yeah, surely thermalright thought at this fan as a CPU fan only....but...if it is greaT, why not to use it anywhere else?

Re: My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)
Those fans have been reviewed in the last 140mm fans roundup from X Bit Labs...I hope Silentpcreview will test it too, because I think that today this is the best PWM fan (and not only, also one of the best buys for 140mm fans....or 120mm it depends if you have adapters or not). Garak: of course, th...

My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan (little Review)
My Opinion About Thermalright TY-140 fan Hi, yesterday I bought one of those fans, I think someone would appreciate a little personal opinion about it! Well, the fan, as you know, is a 140mm PWM, with 120mm holes without any adapter included in the box. Actually there's nothing else but the fan itse...

Re: 140mm fans good for horizontal (on top) mount?
SO.....doesn't really exist a 140mm fan that will be good in horizontal mount????   Thanks :) Try Noiseblocker. They make a very nice series of well reviewed fans... in some respects better than Nexus. They even have a special line of true 140mm fans designed with feedback fro...

Re: 140mm fans good for horizontal (on top) mount?
The Fractal Design's have a slight ticking noise that gets worse in a horisontal position. I would bet on the Scythe Slip Stream 140's although I haven't tried one of those exact fans yet, seeing as they should be very similar to the 120's. Which are fine for horisontal use. FRACTAL DESIGN TOO? Oh ...

140mm fans good for horizontal (on top) mount?
Hi, I'm searching for a SILENT (it's the more important thing) 140mm fan, and I have to mount it on the top of my Lancool PCK-60 case, so, it will be mounted in horizontal mode. I can't find the right one, because I read that many fans have problems monuted like that, strange noises etcetera! I want...

Thank you....I think I will go for the Samsung F4 Because, what are my options?: 1) Buy a "hope" silent/speedy Hard Disk, and 7200.12 and F4 seems the right choices at little little price 2) Don't buy anything...(I don't think so :P) 3) Buy an SSD (too too tooooo much moneyyyyy)!!!....for not talkin...

Re: Fast & Silent Hard Disk...Samsung F4 or Seagate 7200.12?
Ok, understood, thanks. The thing is: once upon a time :D I had a Seagate 7200.10 250gb in my PC, it was enough silent for me . Time later, I decided to try a RAID-0 with two WD RE3, I didn't care about noise, I wanted speed! :-) Today,I have decided that I would like to come back to a silent config...

Re: Fast & Silent Hard Disk...Samsung F4 or Seagate 7200.12?
So.....it doesn't seem that there are any "silent" 7200 rpm disk from that review...The differences from some kind of raptor and some kind of seagate 7200 are minimal and so on. The only ones silent are the eco green, like WD. So why do I read on internet that Spinpoint and Seagate 7200.12 are SILEN...

Fast & Silent Hard Disk...Samsung F4 or Seagate 7200.12?
Hi there, I'm searching for a very silent and very fast Hard Disk 7200rpm for installing my SO I know that it's impossible to have both things coming toghether, but I would like the best choice. The dimensions don't matters, so single plate is ok! So, I was thinking about choosing from one of those:...

Re: What about 140mm Enermax T.B. Silence ?
it would probably be easier to just make some adapters yourself, the noctua version looks to be fairly simple: http://www.dragonsteelmods.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15516&Itemid=1 or maybe noctua sells 'em somewhere? Well, I saw those adapters too, I didn't find them anywhere, I ...

Re: What about 140mm Enermax T.B. Silence ?
i'm using one on a 120mm fan, i actually haven't tried to match it up with a 140mm fan, but that's a good point. i would hack out the plastic frame, if it was blocking the airflow... leave just enough plastic to mount the fan. mmmm It seems too complicated, I don't think this will worth the price o...

Re: What about 140mm Enermax T.B. Silence ?
I read bad things about that fan adapter...and, I don't understand that, the hole for the fan is too little for a 140mm fan, isn't it? In the end....maybe I'll buy one Enermax T.B. Silence and one Thermalright TY-140 (and I'll try to install it with some wire...) However, if anyone have those T.B. S...

Re: What about 140mm Enermax T.B. Silence ?
The problem is that my case have only 140mm holes, but that TY is a 140mm fan with only 120mm holes (as the Noctua does)...but it comes without any adapter. There's also the Thermalright X-Silent 140, which uses FDB (fluid dynamic bearing), have 140mm holes and costs a bit less than TY-140. Already...

there must be a reason that you aren't looking at the winner of that fan shootout, the ty-140... perhaps they are too expensive to import, because they aren't available in italy? Re: What about 140mm Enermax T.B. Silence ?
I don't know much about Enermax fans, they seem to be a flashy fan of choice for overclockers and modders though. In terms of other alternatives, from what other users have posted here, Yate Loon make a fairly quiet 140mm fan. It's a sleeve bearing fan though, so possibly inappropriate for a horizo...
