That's wierd. Mike it looks like the pcs you linked to are a BTX case whereas the PDF shows a flipped ATX.

I especially like how they misspelled holes in the PDF.

Looks like the retooling guess was right. Now if I could only get my hands on one to look at.

I don't understand what the advantage is. Thermally, there is no difference compared to the board mounted normally. Nor is there any functionally. About the only thing I can thin of is that maybe it's possible to modifiy this more easily to one or another of the BTX form factors. I'd guess the same...

It looks like it's the same pseudo-BTX configuration that is pretty popular right now (Lian-Li 1000 etc...) with the board flipped. Looks pretty good for CPU ducting though.

Too bad I just bought a new case

Don't forget that Ceramique is non-conductive. So it really just comes down to an ease of use issue. I'll sacrifice the degree or two I'd get with AS5 for not having to worry about shorting something out and easy application. YMMV

I'm on my 3rd Nforce 2 board and I had the same MSI board. It was a major squealing problem until I bought a new PSU and then it went away. It still doesn't compare with the problems I've had over the years with Via chipsets. I haven't noticed any whine on my other 2 boards (Gigabyte and Biostar). I...

I saw a review yesterday at Insanetek (the usual type of hardware review, not saying much), but he compared it to the Zalaman 7700 ALCU. The temps were only a few degrees lower across the board and he was complaining about the fan noise so that doesn't bode well for fan replacement. Since the XP120 ...

Thought I'd add my 2c. I got the BenQ 120x and at first I was very very dissapointed. It seemed louder than most laptop style keyboards I'd tried. After using it for about two weeks I'm getting more and more impressed. It's very thin for one thing so I have less wrist issues with it and it is pretty...

ATI cards had (is that still true?) better DVI output and their TV-out has slightly more features out of the box. The x300 or 9550 can be found cheaply and passively cooled.. An integrated chipset would work just fine too. If you're looking for strictly 2D and text (normal computer use) and no game...

The rubber grommets on the 3700 aren't soft enough to really have much effect in dampening. You might look up some posts on sorbothane or suspending the drives.

If it's like the other power supplies I've taken apart, you can just take the 2 pin bracket off (it should just slide over the pins) and use the fan connector on the pins.

One thing that might make your life easier is that Lian-Li makes a wiring harness that contains all the LEDs needed, power, reset and speaker. I know that silverpcs stocks them, but you probably can find it cheaper from somewhere else. Or you can just tear it out of an old case. You may want to look...

I have the 7.2 revision and it does over/under volt. I highly reccommend that if you get it you replace the northbridge heatsink. It depends on what you mean by compatable. I believe that the sockets on the motherboard are standard so if you're willing to have an external PSU you should be able to use a fanless. Every SFF computer I've seen uses non-atx form factor PSUs so I don't think you'll be able to fit it inside the case.

I have to agree with fancontrol, airflow and the routing thereof is more important than the size of the case. That being said, it's easier to rout airflow in a larger case than in a smaller. Though there are some small cases that are quite good (the Antec 1650 and 2600 BQE editions seem to have dece...

You should be ok with a Zalman ZM50-HP. Another option since you have the 80-d is just to put one heatsink on it (I have just the back one on my 9600XT and it cools just fine). I'm not sure if the HP50 will fit on a AIW though.

You may want to try with the Zalman again. My experience has been that GPUs are a bit more heat tolerant than CPUs. I'm glad to hear that other people are having problems with the VGA silencer as well, mine has been a pain since I got it.

The 9600 should be fine with the ZM50-HP if weight is your concern. I've had a ZM80 and I move my computer around a bit without a problem, but from looking at the SFF tech forums, there are quite a few people who get by with a 50-HP on their 9600XTs without any issues.

Unfortunately not, the standard m-atx psu is wider than tall, the one in this case is long rather than wide. I think part of the problem is that I have a Radeon 9500 (running as a 9700) and it's pulling too much power for the 240w PSU to cope with. I'm looking at getting a 9600XT, which runs about 2...

I've added a baffle between the heatsink and the PSU so now the PSU is drawing cool air from the duct (I have a 92mm fan on the hs that overlapps the edge of the duct) and this seems to keep the PSU fan from ramping up. Just a note about the power supply. As of when I wrote the review, I hadn't heard the fan ramp up. Since then running folding@home it will become rather noisy around 43C after some little time.
