You only want a very thin covering of the TIM, it is only there to fill in the grooves between the hs and chip. If you have more than a very thin convering it will actually reduce performance.

Underclocking has not made a great difference for me, however, undervolting makes a HUGE difference in temparature, even as little as .1v creates lower temps. I usually try for a slight overclock on the FSB while reducing the voltage a little.

Two H1A's, especially as an exhaust will not be silent, even at 5v. I bought several H1A's thinking they would have the same acoustic properties as the L1A's (years ago when I first started silencing) but the fans are very different. You may want to look at L1A or M1A's, especially mounted with EAR ...

I don't have any experience with a U1A but I had the same question with an H1A and L1A on my cpu cooler. I found that the noise characteristics of the two fans were very different. Even at 5v the H1A wasn't silent or even all that quiet, while I could get the L1A much quieter at about the same CPU t...

That case looks like it has dual 80mm exhausts which shoud provide enough airflow to keep your PS from ramping up.

I have the 350w version of that and it is fairly silent in a case with good airflow. If your case does not have good airflow the PS will ramp up a bit and still be fairly noisy. I had it in a Lian-Li PC68 and that PS was the loudest component in the system (under load), but with the 120mm fan it add...

This has been gone over a few times before, but the long and short of it is...most CRT monitors hum, some less than others and the hum tends to get louder as they age.

I have the same issue, but it's probably not going away for me until I can afford an LCD monitor.

You certainly don't need more than a 300w ps for that. Read the sticky post that Pjtor linked to.

I have a similar setup and have a Seasonic 300w ps running it without a problem.

I have an Enermax adjustable fan and I find it pretty quiet (with the proviso that all fans have that it's not run at 12v and is decoupled). I run mine at 5V, it has quite smooth sound characteristics (no clicking etc...) and I find it sufficient to cool my case (Antec 3700AMB).

I have the Samsung combo drive, and a Sony DVD drive (as well as various other drives), but of the two the Sony is quieter, but it has a higher pitched component to the sound that is a bit annoying. At full speed both are quite loud, but they are reasonable using Nero. I can get the Sony almost inau...

Or you could just get the AMB without a ps from Directron and save a few $. I just ordered an AMB without a PSU for around $50 shipped.

I've found that 1 80 mm fan at 5-8v doesn't provide me with adequate exahaust.

I know that the N-force 2 mobo's are picky about what ram they want. I've had good luck using Kinston value ram. (I use 2-256 modules of PC2700 Kingston ram in my MSI-K7N2 Delta mobo and I've had no problems). Some Nforce boards have problems with Crucial ram, but you should check your manufacturer'...
