Two H1A's, especially as an exhaust will not be silent, even at 5v. I bought several H1A's thinking they would have the same acoustic properties as the L1A's (years ago when I first started silencing) but the fans are very different. You may want to look at L1A or M1A's, especially mounted with EAR ...

I don't have any experience with a U1A but I had the same question with an H1A and L1A on my cpu cooler. I found that the noise characteristics of the two fans were very different. Even at 5v the H1A wasn't silent or even all that quiet, while I could get the L1A much quieter at about the same CPU t...

I have the 350w version of that and it is fairly silent in a case with good airflow. If your case does not have good airflow the PS will ramp up a bit and still be fairly noisy. I had it in a Lian-Li PC68 and that PS was the loudest component in the system (under load), but with the 120mm fan it add...

I have the Samsung combo drive, and a Sony DVD drive (as well as various other drives), but of the two the Sony is quieter, but it has a higher pitched component to the sound that is a bit annoying. At full speed both are quite loud, but they are reasonable using Nero. I can get the Sony almost inau...

I know that the N-force 2 mobo's are picky about what ram they want. I've had good luck using Kinston value ram. (I use 2-256 modules of PC2700 Kingston ram in my MSI-K7N2 Delta mobo and I've had no problems). Some Nforce boards have problems with Crucial ram, but you should check your manufacturer'...

engseng, you forgot the third type of people who get obsessed with quieting their pcs: Those of us who had normal computer noise on a self-built machine and their girlfriend/wife/significant other says, "Can't you make that thing any quieter." Which would also tend to be older people than most tweak...

I just got one on the basis of the recommendations here. Here are my impressions: CD read: Loud at 52x of course everything is loud at 52x. There is a very high pitched component to the noise that is irritating (I only have the high pitched noise during read only, not during read/write operations). ...

Optical Drive Power draw?
I have a new computer project and I want to try to get as quiet and low power consumption as possible. I've figured out the power draw of all of my other components, but I've hit a dead end as far as the optical drives. I'm getting a Samsung 352 combo drive. Does anyone know offhand how much power a...

What happened to me with my mobo, this is not to say that it's the same issue you're having but it may help: Got the mobo, set it up and everything went fine. I plugged all of the connectors in (yes the 12v one is white, square, with four plugs). After about a week the I had some high pitched electr...

Good point Mike and Tobias. Whenever we go to my parents house my wife always comes back home impressed with how quiet our systems are (and I'm not nearly done yet). My dad has 3 bog standard beige boxes and a LOUD server. It always gives me a little breathing room as far as time/money/upgrading goe...

Was just posting it as an option not from experience (Vantec and Thermaltake are two brands I'll never use again). I still use an old PC-mods baybus (love the thing, no noise, goes down to around 4.5v), though I'm lowering the number of fans I have in the system and going with just 2 fanmates soon. ...

I'm using 5.3. I was having huge problems with the voltage/clock settings and the chip was getting very hot with 5.0. I installed 5.2 and that took care of the temp issues. I was having some problems with detecting the Dual channel DDR with were fixed with 5.3. I haven't had any more issues with the...

From what I can tell all recent AMD boards have the 12v connector. I've had quite a few recent boards and the having the connector doesn't seem to do much aside from cause problems (from what I can tell). I've under and over clocked everything. My current Delta-L is overclocked (and undervolted :) )...

I had the same problem with my MSI K7N2 Delta-L motherboard. Apparently some Nforce 2 motherboards get coil whine if the 12v aux connector from the power supply is plugged in. I had to RMA the board, got a new one and didn't plug in the connector... no problems yet. I e-mailed MSI about the problem ...
