What about this model :

If your HDD is really noisy, buy a new one, that kind of product help, but wont do any miracle.
The next step is to put all my HDD into a NAS, and put the NAS outside of my room.

Re: Alternative to Scythe QuietDrive
I have installed a 4TB ST4000DM000 into a Tuniq Sanctum, the temperature is really good, between 30 and 38 degres, really quiet, i'm really happy. What i can hear is my 2TB WD Green, otherwise everything is fine ! Just wondering, how it was without the enclosure? was it too noisy? Hello, i dont kno...

I dont know from where but the HDD is all the time noisy, at idle or load.
These boxes are expensive, i found a French seller for the QuietDrive for 50€.
It will be better than nothing.

Re: Quiet, large external drives?
I bought a MyBook 4Tb and i find it noisy, it does not come from the case since there are no fan, it's the HDD.
I would not recommend it if you are looking for a quiet HDD.

Hello, I moved my NAS outside of my room, because its noisy. My WD20EARS HDD were quiet the first 6 months, then they started to buzz, i RMA them and i got brand new hdd which were as noisy as hdd that i sent back. Re: The Silent Monster
Very nice setup.
From my experience, you cant have a quiet computer with 6 HDDs.
Even if its a quiet model, you will hear buzz or scratch, maybe not immediatly, but after couple of months.
It drove me crazy you know so i decided to build a NAS.
Regards.

Re: Advice for a Mini Gaming Rig
Yes you are right.
For the moment, i wont upgrade my rig.
I will probably do it when i will have to ( need more power ), and i will build it with a miniATX.
Thanks by the way for all these details.

Re: Advice for a Mini Gaming Rig
Hello DNA, I tried a lof of different options, and whatever hdd models, you can not have a quiet computer which contains 3x2To. The heatskin is not a problem, it's cheap and i can easily sel. l my current one. The main problem is the GPU, i have a powerful and very quiet one, Gigabyte or Asus 660ti ...

Re: Advice for a Mini Gaming Rig
I would think that these MiniITX cases aren't drastically smaller than some MicroATX cases and MicroATX is cheaper and easier to work with. However my biggest reservation is that is the size of your system REALLY important enough that you want to spend so much money on replacing half of it? It does...

Re: Advice for a Mini Gaming Rig
Hello tim851, thank you very much for your answer. I think that i will probably sell my GTX580 and buy a 660TI (Gygabyte), what about the performance difference ? I cant find any 660TI vs 580 benchmark comparaison. So let's say i buy a 2 slot video card, can i keep my current PSU and heatskin ? In t...

Advice for a Mini Gaming Rig
Hello everybody, First of all, have a look at my current rig here . I find HDDs too noisy and the case too big for my tiny room. I want to change the case for a smaller case ( Mini ITX/Mini DTX like the Lian Li PC-Q08B ) and i will only keep one SSD in my computer ( i will build a NAS later ). I act...

Re: Airborne Noise of WD20EARX
Hi, I joined just to post here as I also own a WD20EARX which is ridiculously loud for a green drive (sounds more like a old school 7200rpm drive). The hum/vibrations can be heard from downstairs when the house is really quiet and I've had to resort to setting the Windows power management setting f...

Re: Noise problem : Need Help.
It has to be one of your fans: CPU, PSU, case or Video card (I guess it could be a hard drive... but I doubt it). You were right about the HDD. I have one SSD and 3 x WD20EARS, and one of them is making this crazy noise, my first test was wrong, i decided to test each HDD one by one and to put the ...

No nothing, btw the cd/dvd player was off because i did not have a sata cable.
I will do all these test tomorrow night, im really tired of this noise...
Can this sound come from the heatskin ? not from the heatskin fan bur the heatskin itself.

Hello, I have a little problem with my computer for almost one month, I heard an unusual noise, like a rolling metal. If you have the money, maybe you can buy my netbook : Asus 1015PN, and change the HDD by and SSD. Why? Because with an HDD, the computer is really hot (CPU at 90° = fan at high speed) and the stock HDD (WD) is noisy. I have installed an SSD Onyx 32Go, and the CPU is really cooler (50degres), inaudib...
