Nice job Ed, Thanks.
This tempts me into trying something similar when I finish A64 3500+ Digi Darkroom system. Somehow my passive Pentium II email & forum browser isn't fast enough anymore, since I put the A64 system online

Just noticed that the grommets and mounting holes in my SLK3000B and SLK2650-BQE HDD cages are different sizes :!: Measuring them... 3000B: Holes for grommet in HDD cage = 0.250" grommet thickness = 0.180" od (bolt installed) = 0.350" bolt: shoulder diam. = 0.167" (a SNUG fit in the grommet) length ...

$252 or $302? I'd spend the $50. I spent a fair amount of time looking at the various A64 boards and chips when I decided that a 3.2 gig Pentium 4 Northwood was going to be more expensive and harder to keep cool than the A64s. I went a bit heavier on the budget and decided on a 3500+ Winchester and ...

Would these EAR grommets be any better in my 3000B case than the ones supplied by Antec? It would be a lot easier than a suspension or Sorbothane setup. I noted that the G-411 - 9311K139 are a better fit in the Evercase 4252 so I think they would be the ones for the 3000B/3700AMB HDD racks. Any thou...

Belkin 500VA UPS, quiet? problems?
CompUSA has this discontinued UPS on rebate. $9.99 + tax on $75 after rebate. But a $65 rebate makes me wonder should I chance it.
I am thinking of getting one and wonder if anyone has experience with it. A search did not show any problems here.
TIA,
Jim

You could take the HDD and move it to the bottom on the case, sitting on some foam. Just make there is some airflow to remove the heat from the drive. Find a pair of 5.25 to 3.5 brackets to hold it up off the foam. If the drive sounds like it is wearing out and may die soon, like my 4 GB Seagate cof...

ZipZoomfly has a low profile Matrox P650 but from their photo it is NOT passive like the regular P650. Checked the Matrox site and they also show a fan on the low profile card
Sorry, I love my regular height passive P650 and thought I had something there but not.

Well, a hacksaw would fix the corners on the Nexus 120 but you would have to decide on the orange color. If you don't have a window in the case, just put the side back on. Finding the Globe fans was hard from both homepages so here are the links: http://www.coolcases.com/cart/specials.php http://www...

Thanks Ralf and Mike. So I could build my new system now in the 3000, "See Honey, the review says it's 'modestly priced'." And then ask for the P180 for my birthday in June. And then there would be this unused case that could be filled later with various parts from around the house (and Newegg, ZipZ...

Also, the spacing between the HDDs is bigger, allowing making for less restricted airflow even if 4 drives are used. Are there 4 HDDs at the bottom? That would be 4 optical, 2 HDD, 1 floppy and 4 HDD top to bottom looking at the picture. Edit: Reread the home page and see the intake vent in front o...

In Denmark we luckily don't have those 100" wide monstrosities you Americans call fridges :) Really, the large ones here are only 48" wide and thats for a "side-by-side." If you need something with more bling you get a 36" fridge and a 36" freezer and put them side by side. Still not nearly 100" :l...

Thanks Mike, That saved me a bit of worry and I will look for a late 2004 driver for the P650. Now to find a good price on the Seasonics. That is, a quiet digital darkroom. Another one of those A64, 90 nm systems. It is not to be Silent but just as quiet as performance and cost will permit. It will not be on 24/7 but only when in use. I can't seem to locate any quiet Power Supplies here that's over 450W. I was wondernig if you guys can point me to one, even a 500W that's relatively quiet for that purpose. From what I read version 7.2 is the current version. Earlier this year there was a version 7.0 , that was the one without adjustments :( Check the "user reviews" on Newegg (with a grain of salt), some of the info may help. Looks like the on-board video works with the FSB up to 333 but not at 400. Do...
