Nice job Ed, Thanks.

This tempts me into trying something similar when I finish A64 3500+ Digi Darkroom system. Somehow my passive Pentium II email & forum browser isn't fast enough anymore, since I put the A64 system online :)

Just noticed that the grommets and mounting holes in my SLK3000B and SLK2650-BQE HDD cages are different sizes :!: Measuring them... 3000B: Holes for grommet in HDD cage = 0.250" grommet thickness = 0.180" od (bolt installed) = 0.350" bolt: shoulder diam. = 0.167" (a SNUG fit in the grommet) length ...

$252 or $302? I'd spend the $50. I spent a fair amount of time looking at the various A64 boards and chips when I decided that a 3.2 gig Pentium 4 Northwood was going to be more expensive and harder to keep cool than the A64s. I went a bit heavier on the budget and decided on a 3500+ Winchester and ...

Would these EAR grommets be any better in my 3000B case than the ones supplied by Antec? It would be a lot easier than a suspension or Sorbothane setup. I noted that the G-411 - 9311K139 are a better fit in the Evercase 4252 so I think they would be the ones for the 3000B/3700AMB HDD racks. Any thou...

Frank,

How long ago did you fill out that page? I did a "search" and came up with nothing there and then went around looking for it with no results. Perhaps they got tired of giving us those free samples.

XP120 on an ASUS A8V-Deluxe. I had room enough to push down on the clips with my fingertips and they snapped into place. Easier than I thought it would be after reading Ralf's review. Just looked inside the case now and it would be a lot harder with the Mobo installed.

Belkin 500VA UPS, quiet? problems?

CompUSA has this discontinued UPS on rebate. $9.99 + tax on $75 after rebate. But a $65 rebate makes me wonder should I chance it.

I am thinking of getting one and wonder if anyone has experience with it. A search did not show any problems here.

TIA,
Jim

You could take the HDD and move it to the bottom on the case, sitting on some foam. Just make there is some airflow to remove the heat from the drive. Find a pair of 5.25 to 3.5 brackets to hold it up off the foam. If the drive sounds like it is wearing out and may die soon, like my 4 GB Seagate cof...

Well, a hacksaw would fix the corners on the Nexus 120 but you would have to decide on the orange color. If you don't have a window in the case, just put the side back on. You can get a peek at the back at the PCMag link. Just click on the Sonata Picture and check the case behind it.

Thinking about the price.

PCMag says $169 MSRP. If you go to Antec.com and buy a P160 the price shows as $169 + 24.68 S&H. So they both have the same MSRP. A quick PriceGrabber shows many prices between $110 and $125. I think the P180 would be a bit higher right after introduction.

Also, the spacing between the HDDs is bigger, allowing making for less restricted airflow even if 4 drives are used. Are there 4 HDDs at the bottom? That would be 4 optical, 2 HDD, 1 floppy and 4 HDD top to bottom looking at the picture. Edit: Reread the home page and see the intake vent in front o...

Take a look at the "Customer Reviews" at your link. "ACCS" wrote that it takes 80, 92 & 120 fans in the back. He(?) writes he moved the 80 to the front and installed a 120 in the back. He also writes that the motherboard tray is removable. And the optical drive bays have flip down covers.

My UPS is silent in normal daytime use but it is too small for Ed's needs. It is an APC Back-UPS CS 350. It has a slight noise when it charges (first minute after power up) and then nothing. When running off the battery it is quite loud and I can hear the alarm from downstairs, beeping away.
