The Scythe Kama PWM fan was reviewed by SPCR here.
Hi, I'm repairing broken links in this forum as a hobby, you can find the original above mentioned fan review on archive.org.

You're welcome

Re: Silent DVD burners

Hi all, has anybody an experience with the newer Asus DRW - 24D5MT? I found very disparate reviews, seems it's either very noisy or very quiet.. :?:

Re: Scythe Shuriken RevB fan issue

Welcome to SCPR. Yes, you can replace the fan. Just unclip, unplug, and install a new one. The model is SY1212SL12H-P. The specs are shown here as a PWM slimline fan 500 to 2000rpm. I didn't see an online source for the PWM version, just the 3-pin voltage controlled model, SY1212SL12H. However, if ...

For the record: I ended up buying the 3-pin version of the fan from Scythe, and it worked like a charm..

In a quest for a silent/eco/cheap HTPC

Hi there SPCRers! I'm in the process of building a new (HT)PC and after some rabbit hole plunging I figured out I may be faster with some help  My requirements are: - GNU/Linux only (Debian) - Playing/streaming 1080p video, including h264 and h265 decoding, and of course music - Otherwise s...

Toughbook CF-T8 fan noise?

Hi all, I have been happily using a Toughbook CF-T5 for a few years, now it starts being a bit too slow, so I was thinking of getting a T8 but I noticed it has a fan (the T5 did not). Is there anyone who has a CF-T8 who can comment about its fan, is it noisy? does it does it switch on often? Any hin...

Re: Scythe Shuriken Rev. B SCSK-1100 4-pin on old 3-pin mobo

I'm sure the fan works (tested in a different computer with 4-pin header).
Now I'm thinking, would the Zalman PWM Mate do the job? It's supposed
to be connected to the mobo with a 4-pin headere as well, so I'm not sure..

Re: Zalman PWM Mate

- Can the controller be connected to a 3-pin fan header? Or it only works with 4-pin headers? (I mean, the 4th pin for the PWM signal needs to be used?) I would be very interested in the same info! Did you find it out? I'm trying to install a 4-pin fan on an old mobo with 3-pin fan headers, I thoug...

Scythe Shuriken Rev. B SCSK-1100 4-pin on old 3-pin mobo?

Hi all, I'm trying to install a Scythe Shuriken Rev. B SCSK-1100 (4-pin female) on an old socket 478 motherboard, which has a 3-pin male connector. It should work afaik, the fan connector plastic also matches perfectly the mobo connector (leaving the 4th pin unconnected of course). Surprise surprise...
