Re: Antec P183, CP-850, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Intel i5 2500k
Thanks again for all your help Luca. I am in the middle of deciding where to purchase the parts, but in summary my list is as follows: Antec P183 v3 Antec CP-850 Intel i5 2500k Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB 1600mhz Memory Kit CL9 1.35v (the 1.35v version is only 10% more than the 1.5v version, i...

Re: USB3 at front of Antec P183?
Another neat converter (similar to the Lian Li) for any UK based readers is available from Scan.
On my P183 I plan to remove the PCI bracket from the USB3 Module that comes with certain Asus motherboards. I'll then connect the P183 front panel USB3 cable to that module internally.

Re: Antec P183, CP-850, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Intel i5 2500k
Probably you are thinking about positive pressure due to Silverstone unique approach with the FT2 you like so much. You are absolutely correct - I had read the reviews of the FT02 and had run with the positive pressure idea without properly considering the implications and issues. I just say that y...

Re: Antec P183, CP-850, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Intel i5 2500k
It would seem I have misunderstood things somewhat. I am guessing that I shouldn't be looking for either positive or negative pressure, but more a balanced intake and exhaust? According to my reading (e.g. this brief article ) a case with no intake at the front, but an exhaust at the back will tend ...

Re: Antec P183, CP-850, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Intel i5 2500k
That is incredibly impressive and makes perfect sense to me given that build. It would seem that, given the changing thermal environment with regards to components these days (i.e. GPU producing the bulk of the heat in non-15,000rpm RAID type setups) the "standard" layout no longer applies. However,...

Re: Silverstone FT02, Noctua NH-D14/ U12P SE2, Antec TP New
Thanks once again Luca. I'll post a fuller reply when I get the chance and can properly answer your post. However, just to note - I don't intend on using the IGP for more than two months, and therefore my end goal is a quiet system *with* a discrete GPU. Thanks for the correction on the A05N - I was...

Re: Silverstone FT02, Noctua NH-D14/ U12P SE2, Antec TP New
I have a pretty similar list of components and have loved my lian-li pc-09f. IMO if you were thinking the silverstone bc of its looks but worried about the fans this may be a good replacement (it has even been updated to a front panel usb3 header now). The asus boards DO NOT WORK with the noctua fa...

Re: Case choice - Define R3 / P183 / FT02B
My other reason for preferring the standard ATX design of the Asus Z68 board (P8Z678-V Pro), is that it has more than one graphics output, which the Gene-Z does not. I intend to run dual monitors off the IGP.

New Build - Define R3 / P183 / FT02B / CPU heatsink & PSU ch
Could one of the moderators please move this thread to the System Advice forum if possible? - I fear it is getting a little off topic now that the case discussion no longer forms the bulk of the thread.

Re: Case choice - Define R3 / P183 / FT02B
Thanks so much for your extensive and helpful response Luca. May I ask why you would choose the Gene-Z over the P8Z68-V Pro? Also, what leads you to choose the Asus Pro P67? The reason I want a Z68 board is that the IGP is rather important to me - I initially plan to build the system without a discr...

Antec P183, CP-850, Noctua NH-U12P SE2, Intel i5 2500k
Hello everyone, I am a long time lurker on SPCR, and it really is a fantastic resource for those concerned with quietness as well as performance - so thank you Mike and the rest of the community! I am currently selecting components and am having trouble selecting a case - this will be my first build...
