Ok, it's standby. Which means that CPU and PSU are not shut down. How you know that it's safe to shut down the fans?

I *think* that selecting Start --> Standby can put PC in hibernate mode, rather than standby, depending on how power management is configured.

Note that it's made of vinyl. It's flexible, but not soft. If you want to completely decouple the fan from the case, you have to figure out how to mount the fan so that it doesn't touch the moulding.

I finally bought a multimeter and measured my Evercool. It starts reliably at 4.5V. Anything below that is a nogo. At 4.5V MBM reports 900-920 RPM. The only thing I can hear is the moving air. No mechanical noise whatsoever, even if I put my ear right next to it. Great fan!! bonus: it's cheaper than...

So far my options are: 1. Remove the 92mm entirely, cover up the hole on the bottom, enlarge the holes opposite the fan, and either move the thermal doohickey or hard wire it for 5v. 2.
