Re: Gonna buy a 3900x which is the MOST silent fan for it?
Get the D15-AM4, and buy a pair of NF A12x25 PWM's to replace the 140's it comes with. Install them on a LNA each and run them around 20%. It will be next to silent, with great performance and no clicking. You're not going to get better than that on air. If that doesn't work then it's water / AIO f...

Re: Gonna buy a 3900x which is the MOST silent fan for it?
Hi, so the thing has been for a while now... what do we know?
I think i've read 3200mhz with cl14 is ideal, or is it 3600mhz with 16cl?
In terms of fan, do we have any temps tests and to see if there will not be problems fitting a certain ram+fan+mobo+case combos?

Re: Gonna buy a 3900x which is the MOST silent fan for it?
I guess i will need to wait and see if NH-D15s is compatible with the rams i will buy with the mobo i will buy.. im not going to buy fancy rams, again it's stock speeds for me, so I dont expect any problems? we'll see, just a month to find out. Check independant reviews in a month, see how Ryzen 30...

Re: Gonna buy a 3900x which is the MOST silent fan for it?
The R4 can fit up to 170mm according to fractal, but when i had the R4 it can certainly fit much higher, probably 190mm+, it will fit any tower on the market. Btw, before giving away my R4 to a friend i mounted a NH-U14S and had a case fan on the side and had no issues, that said i dont recommend u...

Re: Gonna buy a 3900x which is the MOST silent fan for it?
According to Fractal the R4 will take a CPU cooler up to 170mm tall (as long as no side-fan is installed). The Noctua NH-U12A is 158mm tall; the NH-D15 comes in at 165mm. So the NH D15 will be insanely close? add in the mobo space to that 165... I just dont know because on this chart the 12A isnt e...

I am confused, does Noctua support the socket yet?
which is the most silent fan? I will be making music so the smallest fan noise drives me nuts
I have a fraktal define r4 case so im worried maybe the mammoth sized noctua one doesnt fit?

Re: Finally bought the define R4. Still not happy with noise
That setup is an already very powerful setup for next gen gaming, so im pretty impressed. What would be quieter, the passive PSU with the extra front fan on the R4, or the hybrid one? considering the case fan is a constant noise. Also, are the 2 default fans from the R4 worth replacing for other qui...

Re: Finally bought the define R4. Still not happy with noise
I will need to check about "LN and ULN 3pin adapter that are resistors to slower the fans." cos I have no idea about that, I've only seen classic 3 pin ones so far. I guess thats for hardware fan control? but whats the point? I can control my current CPU fan easy with Speedfan with a click. Right no...

Re: Finally bought the define R4. Still not happy with noise
It's not the GPU. With my old GPU, the exact same rumble noise was present. This GPU is pretty silent during idle I reckon. I've used SpeedFan to bring down the CPU cooller to 0% for some seconds. I've figured out the CPU fan is the fan noise that im hearing the most. When I set it to 0%, the remain...

Re: Finally bought the define R4. Still not happy with noise
"Low rumble oscillating noise" could be if you have a couple or more harddrives that vibrate in slightly different rythms, where they harmonise every few seconds or so making it more discernable. If that might be the case, try loosening the drive screws(the ones with the big flat heads) a bit in ca...

Finally bought the define R4. Still not happy with noise lvl
So I finally bought it, replaced my old NXZT which had had some ugly vibration noises going plus the fans. Powered up the system on the R4. It's definitely more silent now, and the super annoying vibration noise is gone, but im still hearing the low rumble oscillating noise. A lot quieter now, but i...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4
Finally pulled the trigger, will arrive this friday. Cant wait to retire my old noisy case. That vibrating noise is driving me insane lately plus the fans. It's interesting how when I bought it years ago it seemed so quiet compared to my older one, and now I can't tolerate it anymore. I hope the R4 ...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches
Also, personally I work with audio, so I need massive storage drivers (just got a 7200 rpm Seagate of 2TB), sometimes you dont know if your DAW is loading a sample or if it got stuck. HDD led makes you more patient. If it wasnt for HDD led I would have gotten pissed up a lot of times at long loadin...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches
I know. Im still running XP  My plan is to get an SSD of a decent size enough to fit in Win 7 + games installed, and have the regular disks as data storage. I guess 300GB would be enough for the SSD. Thing is, im going nuts with the vibrating sound and fan sounds. I hope to get it solved asap ...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches
Feeling a need for a HDD led would mostly come from habit really. It would be flashing pretty constantly in many systems too, and all would be well. Get an SSD or fix the broken system to avoid long waits. Even the power led is pretty redundant, but too many would complain about that one missing. I...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches
Sometimes you open a program, it gets stuck and you dont know if its still loading or if the program has frozen. No hdd led = retarded imo. OK, but a lot of software doesn't have high HDD load anyway and with SSDs the HDD loading time is very short so the HDD LED becomes less relevant in knowing wh...

But then I've read here the R4 has no HD activity LED. WHAT where they thinking? :? A LED HD activity is essential and very useful to know if the computer is doing something or not. Waste of case. I was considering buying it because my current case is a NZXT and there is some vibration that is driving me insane since I bought it like 2 years ago. The fan noises are also annoying. To anyone that owns it already: Is the problem of bad-toxic-like-smell from the dampening foam materials still a problem? I remember a lot of people complaining about it being intolerabe in earlier releases of the case.

Re: Best out of the box card with lowest idle noise for gami
I finally went for the R7850 PE. I think higher performance than this would be overkill and bootlenecked on my current system, and I don't plan to upgrade the rest of my computer anytime soon so it's pointless. Will report back with noise perception. Probably the only thing I can hear at least in id...

Best out of the box card with lowest idle noise for gaming
As the title says, it's pretty simple: Whats the best card out there that will not require removing parts and buying 3rd party ones, that will have the best idle levels out there while performing as best as possible in games? From the research I've done it seem like the 7850 by MSI is the best candi...
