Re: Fractal Define R5 Standard Fractal GP-14 140mm case fans
Sorry for bringing up an old post. I have this case and those fans (2x Fractal GP14 in the front, 1x Noiseblocker on exhaust) and their performance is a bit disappointing. Noise-wise they're fine, but they fail to create positive pressure inside the case, and I get dust build up on the top of my PSU...

Eyeing this one for a future Zen build and to replace my Define R5. Define C Mini in particular. mATX is the sweet spot IMHO.

Do all line-interactive UPSes "hum"?
I have a fanless Tripp Lite UPS of the line-interactive type. It constantly emits a low hum, which is mostly masked by computer fans so it's not a big deal. But this thing is approaching 4 years of age and I figured instead of replacing the batteries I could buy a new and quieter UPS. Just another s...

Re: CS550M alternatives
Hard disk and fans spinning up create enough noise for the little "ping" not to matter. It's not like it's constant. What's curious is that be quiet! Straight Power E10 also has inrush protection (NTC thermistor and relay) according to a review I read on techPowerUp, yet it lacks this noise. Maybe t...

Re: beQuiet Shadow Wings SW1 120mm PWM (BL026)
I did the same thing, thanks to your topic I knew that the wire clips would fit into the rubber thingies. Wow. Turns out my 4+ years old Hyper 212 fan was the noisiest thing in my system, for it went from "somewhat noisy" to "almost inaudible", subjectively speaking. Old fan idled at around 800-900 ...

Jonnyguru reviewed the 800W version. It uses Teapo capacitors:

Re: My entry level to stilent PCs - "The struggle"
3. Are Antec True Quiet 140mm the best option for case fans? I want to get 2/3 of them to get 4 intakes/1 exhaust. I assume you want to add 2 x bottom intakes, since opening top / side vents doesn't work for a silent build. I have this case and after adding two Scythe fans on bottom intake I notice...

Re: Disappointed by Antec Edge 650W, what equivalent to get?
I'm happy with my Be Quiet (same type but 500W). I can only hear the fan (mild clicking) if I put my ear right above it. Absolutely noiseless 1m away. That's with the paperclip test, however, so the fan is on the lowest RPM. I have no means to test a PSU with a load while isolating it from the rest ...

Re: Seasonic SS-520FL2 vs. X-650
I don't know if you ever solved your PSU issue, but if not, I kind of want to recommend Be Quiet! Straight Power 10. I just got the 500W semi-modular version and it's very quiet. No electronics noise whatsoever (after my previous PSU that's a breath of fresh air), and at low loads the fan is barely ...

Re: CS550M alternatives
I have it on my Seasonic X series as well. It's more noticeable on shutdown, a sort of metallic "ping" sound (best as I can describe it).
Why is this an issue? You'll only hear it once or twice a day.

Re: Seasonic Platinum 520w (SS-520FL2) - Recommended?
Mine's a pretty old Asus M4A87TD. I was considering that maybe my PC (which is fairly low-end) isn't drawing enough power. I heard that sometimes the PSU can "whine" at lower loads. However, launching intensive programs like prime95 actually seems to make the buzz louder. I don't know what's up with...

Re: HDD vibration & noise reducing methods - ranked
I use Nexus DiskTwin. You basically move your HDD from the 3.5" to 5.25" drive bay and it's placed between these combo radiator / rubber dampener thingies. It's probably not as good as elastic suspension (I never tried) but compared to standard HDD mounting, the difference is clear.

Re: Seasonic Platinum 520w (SS-520FL2) - Recommended?
My just-purchased Seasonic X-460FL2 has annoying coil whine, and after a bit of googling I found out that many X-series models have the same problem. It's not super loud or anything, but definitely audible with the case closed and under my desk. Kind of makes going fanless pointless, the buzz is mo...

Re: Fanless system w/ multiple LAN ports?
Thanks, everyone. I found two more possible hardware combos in addition to your suggestions, so I guess I have some choices. If anyone's interested, first there's this mini ITX Jetway NF9Q-Q87 motherboard: http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/ipcboard_view.asp?productid=1075&proname=NF9Q-Q87 It can be expand...

Fanless system w/ multiple LAN ports?
I've been thinking about building a kickass custom router for when my ISP contract ends and I can get something a lot faster. Fanless mini-ITX or NUC seem ideal (if expensive), but I quickly ran into a problem: 2 x LAN ports seem to be the maximum, and I need at least 3 (don't want a switch for neat...

Yeah, I took it out and it's making the same noise. Just wondering if it wore out during the 9 months or that much noise is normal for these fans.

Nexus Real Silent 120mm motor buzz?
I've had an Antec 300 case for about 9 months now, and lately it seems like its making more noise. Can't be sure though as I have only my ears to rely on... Stopping each fan by hand, it definitely seems like Nexus Real Silent (which I use as intake) is making the most noise. The Antec fans which ca...

I wonder if this would work with the top-mounted fan on an Antec 300 case. That thing is silent by itself, but is creating some serious vibrations in the case. Edit: nevermind, I see there are some rubber mounts for "closed" fans as well: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=pr...
