In search of an efficient 80 mm fan - probably ...

I am modding an old harddisc recorder with great converters but too much fan noise. It was build to replace 2" tape machines which where in their own rooms anyway, so I guess fan noise was less of an issue back then. Replacing the 80 mm PSU fan The PSU is a non-standard design with 18 volt rails for...

Vintage quiet - in search of a good socket 7 solution

Hi :-) I've purchased a vintage harddisc recorder, and I would like to make it sound less like a jet taking off. The device was meant to replace 2" tape machines which where in their own room anyway. So I guess fan and drive noise was less of a consideration back then. And yes, the audio quality of ...

Re: I have really bad whine from my Seasonic P-520FL

By the way, the PSU also had this whine when the PC was off. It was so bad (even when the PC was off), I would notice it when I entered the room - 4 meters away from the PC. I tried it in two different PCs. The shop replaced it right away. Also, I wouldn't consider a post in an external internet for...

Re: Noctua NH-L12 Low Profile Cooler

I just installed an NH-L12. Is it supposed to sit tight on the CPU when the screws are all the way down, or is it ok to be able to rotate the heatsink a few mm above the CPU? The later is what happens with my PC.

Re: I have really bad whine from my Seasonic P-520FL

This should be embarrassing to Seasonic. I just swapped the p-520FL with a cheap fanned LC Power 6420, and this one is considerably LESS noisy, and the noise it makes is way more easy on the ears.

I have really bad whine from my Seasonic P-520FL

Hi there I have a Seasonic P-520FL. I bought this, because I wanted a silent system. But instead I have a PC which makes my ears hate me after a couple of hours. It has a very strong whining/fuzzing/sizzling noise which is easily audible several meters away. The PSU is in a biiiig tower with the sid...

How much current does RAM draw?

Hi :-) I am about to build a new fanless PC with a small 80 Watt PSU (rated at only 60 Watt without forced air flow) in an HD-Plex s5 case. The motherboard will be the Asrock z77e-itx, and the CPU will be the i5-3570k. I will not install a graphics card but instead use the PCIe slot for a card for m...
