Re: Need quiet, high efficiency, short and very stable psu
Ya... I asked Seasonic through email and the person who answered it said it only applies for top mounted psu... How true that is though.. I dont know, lol. EDIT: I asked Seasonic under another email, the exact same guy answered it. He told me I am better off with another power supply than using it u...

Re: Need quiet, high efficiency, short and very stable psu
Phanteks F140HP/XP, they move a lot of air and very quiet... They have an annoying clicking noise though... http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=388 520fl rebrand http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story3&reid=326 ss-660xp http://www.jonnyguru.com/mod...

Re: Need quiet, high efficiency, short and very stable psu
I think I will choose between : SS-660XP 520fl2 golden silent SS-760XP SS-660XP : - Second most efficient - Mostly closed, so dust wont go in the case or in the power supply as much - 160mm - Semi-fanless. It might run without fan up to ~198w or 25C 520fl2 : - Most efficient of all 3. - Fanless - No...

Re: Need quiet, high efficiency, short and very stable psu
Ya, that Superflower unit. :) I thought about it, but I am not sure if I can use it... ATX PSUs up to 190/170 mm with a bottom 120/140mm fan installed; when not using any bottom fan location longer PSUs up to 300mm can be used If I were to use a 140mm fan... My current 190mm psu doesnt allow me to u...

Need quiet, high efficiency, short and very stable psu
I have a seasonic ss-1000xp atm, which I will be using in the other computer I am building. I got a GTX970 this week, which runs a bit hot. Unfortunately, with the length of my current power supply, I cant use a fan in the bottom middle of my Define R5. No matter what, I need a power supply for my o...

Re: Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_attached_SCSI I looked around the net and it seems a few people claim its not possible. This allows for SATA drives to be connected to SAS backplanes. The reverse, connecting SAS drives to SATA backplanes, is not possible. Maybe they are talking about native SAS ...

Re: Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
You are right. It would be much cheaper with a narco. Unfortunately, it has SAS connectors and my motherboard has SATA only. You can plug SATA into a SAS backplane, but not the other way around. Technically I could remove the backplane and connect my SATA HD directly to the motherboard, but it would...

Re: Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
I am not looking for something expensive at all, it will be used mostly for downloads/some backup stuff while I format a computer or something/streaming movies. Obviously, I want it good enough for the future like 4k movies, but thats it. I dont need more than that. However, I do have a spare Maxim...

Re: Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
1) I would like to spend no more than 200$ for it, I can mod it if necessary, such as cutting out the front if needed so I can fit some bays like a NAS or something like that, but I dont know where to find such thing. 2) 4 is what I need to start with, I would definitely like something expandable ju...

Re: Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
Technically yes, but I still need more space, my 4tb drive is almost full, so no matter what I would have to add more hard drives. Instead of having 2 hard drive worth 10TB, dont you think it would be better to have a standalone NAS, where other devices can stream movies and stuff? They are currentl...

Re: Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
Wow. 4k for a simple i3. You probably have more setting on a NAS when it comes to networking stuff or failproof a bit, but I dont think its worth that much at all. I can build MUCH stronger for much cheaper. However I dont have a proper "NAS" case. Is there an ATX NAS case out there that can support...

Cheapest NAS with Plex media server (DLNA)?
Unfortunately, my Hard Drive makes too much noise to be in my computer, even while suspending it. I am thinking about buying a NAS which allows me run a DLNA server, but can also map the drive for PCs to use (as in, I get to put my downloads on the NAS instead of my PC). USB3.0 ports could be a good...

Re: Replacement fans in Define R5
Ya. I was wondering if it was good. Inexpensive. Does it fit in a 5.25" drivebay no problem?
EDIT: It seems like it does. I found a review and apparently it has ok acoustic performance.

Thanks. Unfortunately all of them except one are out of stock. The only one available has a ridiculous price and probably dont ship to canada. Unfortunately, none of them are available in Canada... Oh well.
Not much I can do about that I guess. =P

Re: Replacement fans in Define R5
Bumping thread if thats ok. What if... I bought something like http://www.moddiy.com/products/Silicon-Rubber-Hard-Drive-Skins-for-3.5-Inches-HDD-.html Put it inside an enclosure. By the way, which enclosure? The Smart Drive reviewed on SPCR doesnt seem to be sold anywhere. Which one would be the bes...

Re: Replacement fans in Define R5
If the HDD is just for occasional use, you can also get more aggressive with it's on/off profile in Windows Power Options (in the Control Panel). Make a custom power plan and turn the HDD off after x minutes. Yep! Set to 5 mins atm and it also seems to calm down even if its not turned off a few min...

Re: Replacement fans in Define R5
lol. I installed my Kotetsu today and I decided to run it with the side panel open to hear the noise. None of my fans are actually making noise, my Hard Drive is the noisiest of all my parts. Seagate Barracuda 4tb 5900rpm... I need to keep it in my case for backups, downloads, etc. Things I dont put...

Re: Replacement fans in Define R5
Nevermind, misread. The GP14 are definitely not Antec Truequiet 140mm. Every temp drop I get matters. However, the TwoCool appears to have about the same performance as the F140HP. The 11dB on the Antec has better performance, but the 19C thermal rise on the Phanteks is better (17 vs 18). In other w...

Replacement fans in Define R5
I am looking to replace the fans that come with the Define R5. They are quiet, but they are also pretty bad. I read they are Antec Truequiet 140? Currently, this is what I have : Phanteks F140HP as a rear exhaust fan and 2 more of them on my NH-D14. Tomorrow I am getting my Scythe Kotetsu and I will...

Re: NH-D14 replacement fans.
Scythe Gentle Typhoon 800rpm is what I had in mind to replace my NF-P14 and NF-P12 on my NH-D14.
SPCR's review showed that it had better performance while having less noise. Sure its probably not a HUGE difference, but every little bit helps. If its quiet enough, I wont hear it.

Re: NH-D14 replacement fans.
I don't have a problem with them, they are good fans but they are loud. I tried ULNA on them and my temps are too high. I am using one of them on LNA and I can still hear it. According to reviews, Scythe fans have better noise/performance. They are also quieter. Since they are highly recommended, I ...

Re: NH-D14 replacement fans.
Thanks for the suggestions. The Gentle Typhoon seems pretty good in my opinion. Unfortunately I can only buy the 1450rpm model and that would be ordering oversea. I live in Canada by the way and I am unable to find the 800rpm model here, the 3000rpm model is available though, but I would have to slo...

NH-D14 replacement fans.
Hi guys, first post! I have been reading a lot of reviews and the forums pretty often, but I never decided to post. Unfortunately, I never got the exact answers I am looking for. Currently this is my build: Coolermaster HAF XM Maximus VI Formula 4770k @ 4.2ghz (1.14v) with NH-D14 Seasonic Platinum 1...
