Re: My journey to madness
The noise is a luxury, the stock configuration would work perfectly, it's more about "what can I do to reduce the noise, without cutting heavily on the performance" The extra cost I invest in the cooling solution can be recycled in future configuration, but my previous hardware is always discounted ...

Re: Passivly cooling a 3900X
I'm not even sure about the 3700X in stress test, unless there is a constant flow from a case fan next to it. At my job I tried to passively cool something as low as an ASIC drawing 15W after 2 hours the radiator was at 50°C with the component at 60°C, and I ended up needing a fan to keep it under 5...

They are now talking about 2021 for the A14 refresh. The fan prototypes on display included slim 140x15, 80x15, 70x15 and 50x10mm A-series models as well as a 140mm counterpart of the NF-A12x25, all of which are on the roadmap for 2021.

btw in your undervolting your vcore voltage is still dynamic or one value? I'm not able to find the right settings for dynamic, the best i had was "Adaptive Auto" with an offset of -0.180 and LLC8. My journey to madness
Hello, Since I lurk a lot and ask question when I need to replace component, I think it's time I share my experience for those interested. I gradually lower the noise of my computer over the last 5 years, the research for silence is very long and you increase your standard at each upgrade, I should'...

I didn't expected the Mugen 5 doing that well at low speed, and even less the KamaFlex outperforming the A12X25 at low speed. Thanks you for the awesome work and your time :) EDIT: You said on the A12X25 thread: I did the 10cm test with 2 fans only (i dont have time atm to do all of them, but i migh...

Still a work in progress, and probably is going to take me all week to finish all the heatsinks, but i finished the NH-D15s, remember im testing at stock 4.3ghz on Aida64 at least 30min, ambient temp was 26.7 to 26.9 according to the fluke probe. Another video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu_jSjhu3Dk
The U12S with 2 A12X25 is within marging of error. Most of the gain seems to be on the new fan rather than on the extra fin area or heatpipe.

As for thermal comparison to air-cooling before watercoolin my setup: I didn't do any real comparisons to before-watercooling since I had better things to do =). The 3GB and 6GB variant have the same power consumption, and the 3GB is roughly 15% less powerful. The cooler are the same on both MSI model. There is a comparison here between a 1060 3GB and 1060 6GB: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-3gb-vs-6gb-review_1...

Re: Modest Video Card to keep me quiet?
If you can get your hand on a used 1060(MSI has a great variant but I never owned one) they are power efficient. In the case you need more silence you could mod it to further increase the cooler at low fan speed (with low speed 120mm fan or even a couple of A12X25).

I don't own the D14, so I can't test it personally. But since the D14 is compatible with 120mm fan hole I don't see why that would vibrate.

The quietest Noctua fan right now is the A12X25. It has roughly the same performance than the A14 PWM but at much lower noise. I don't have the data on the A15 PWM.

Re: New noctua 120mm PWM fan, NF-A12x25 the GT Clone
How would using three of these in the front of a Fractal R6 instead of two Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 140s compare? I do have both A12x25 and A14 fans. I concur that A12 are inaudible at 800rpm, and the increase in noise to 1000rpm is minimal. The A14’s were audible to me at much lower rpm, somewhere ...

Re: 3770k non-delid + D14 passive
I mean inaudible fans are great but experience has taught me they aren't inaudible. If you put a low enough voltage in any fan(and start them by hand), they can be inaudible, but they wont spin enough to cool anything. I can vouch for Abula about the A12X25. They are the only 120mm fan i ever had t...

I find it unlikely that AMD will kill its own Threadripper line up with the R9, and the 135W seems way too good to be true.
We will see at CES i guess.

Re: Strongest GPU Passive Cooler? Morpheus II, Accelero S3,
So your GPU's minimum is 20% PWM? That may explain why my fan is always running. Exactly, the board doesn't send below 20% PWM to the fan. The stop fan depends on the GPU card, some manufacturer doesn't feature the stop fan below threshold temperature. You get much better cooling with very little a...

Re: Strongest GPU Passive Cooler? Morpheus II, Accelero S3,
Did you connect the NA-FC1 to you graphics card? Yes, noctua provides a splitter with the NA-FC1 to connect the PWM to the GPU header, and the 12V from a SATA port. The documentation say you can control up to 10 fan this way, but (don't quote me on this) you don't need the 12V sata connector if you...

Re: Strongest GPU Passive Cooler? Morpheus II, Accelero S3,
You say there is no change speed for the B12-1 or B12-PS ? I did a mod on my 1080 with 2 Noctua A12X25 and a controler na-fc1. The controler lower the PWM signal coming from the GPU(reduction ranging from 0% to 100% of the original signal), and you can make any fan quiet with this system. If the PWM...

What rpms are you using the purewings 2? i thought the Bequiet 600 had Silentwings3. By your comment of adding the noise adapters, im assuming you are running them at full speed? Ok the case is mounted, the pure wing 2 120 has low pitch noise even at the lowest speed, I put the noise adapter from my noctua and it's at silent level now. Unsurprisingly I couldn't stop the heat from stacking and my GPU was at 2150rpm(77°C) after 50min of OCCT which is not bad considering I redu...

Thanks you for your welcome and very fast answer ! Your Thermaltake case looks to have very restricted front airflow - that's probably why you are having heat/noise issues.
