The Celeron M is the same as a Pentium M with half the cache and fewer power saving features. Which means you need a Pentium M motherboard to use it. I read a review (sorry can't recall the site) comparing two identical notebooks with the only difference being a Celeron M CPU and a Pentium M CPU, an...

This one's been mentioned before - price tag isn't too bad. Haven't noticed any owner's opinions about it on here, though.
Perhaps when I get back to England next year, I'll buy one.

I got a similar problem to this with my barton system on an Asus micro-atx motherboard. It was unstable in the same way as yours when running at 333mhz bus, with 3 different sets of RAM and different PSUs. I think it might be because the chipset was not being adequately cooled. I turned my bus speed...

You could go for an Alpha one. I have one of those in my micro-atx and there's over and there's about 4cm headroom above the 80cm cpu fan. Dunno about the width of your case compared to mine though. Alpha heatsinks are also designed with sucking fans in mind which should benefit your plan. BUT I don...

OK, calm down - it's a big manual, but nothing to panic over. What it indicates is that you do NOT have to go into the RAID BIOS tool if you are not configuring a RAID, which sounds like common sense to me. If you don't configure any disks in the RAID tool, then you will automatically have a non-RAI...

I think you have misunderstood some things here, JVM. Firstly, the message about Primary slave failing is no big deal. That's not your hard disk. Your BIOS probably has something configured for position "2." below, but it is empty. So ensure position "2." in your BIOS is "none" to get rid of that me...

Who said the temps of this drive are lower than average HD? My IDE one runs very hot indeed - in fact, I am beginning to suspect it was the cause of my plague of BSOD recently, so I have had to rig up a ghetto fan to cool it :( My Seagate 7200.7 seems to run much cooler. Sorry to wander off topic a ...

I've just build a system, and it keeps rebooting randomly in XP also. I used samsung 2700 RAM and an Asus motherboard - how can you tell whether the RAM is the problem or not in a situation like this? Use Memtest86 t test your RAM. Run it for a few hours at least. No errors are acceptable. If you g...

I have a 7200.7 and I know what you mean about the seeks. I cannot decouple it, because I have a mini-itx case - but putting that box in a cupboard pretty well kills any sound. I've just got a new setup, including a Samsung P80 drive, which has been mentioned a lot in these forums as being one of th...
