Re: passive video

that ASRock Fatal1ty board and a new i7 7700k Are they compatible? I knew you need a Z270 board for the K CPUs. I think they both support the 7700k http://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Fatal1ty%20B250M%20Performance/index.asp#CPU but since you bring it up, I'm open to suggestions as to which of all these...

Re: passive video

Cool. I'll probably get that ASRock Fatal1ty board and a new i7 7700k, try it out using the onboard triple monitor support and if I don't like that can always put my two hd4670s on it. Thanks for the input.

Re: passive video

you know i've never really consdered igp, but will now. price is no issue, but the absolute snappiest video performance is, which is why i've gone with video cards. i would not want to go with igp if it was in any way slower than a vid card.. anyone have a motherboard recommendation? Thanks. That Palit card looks perfect. The only mini hdmi to dvi cable i can find with reviews though is one by Startech and the reviews are pretty bad, so need to research that some more

passive video

I'm about to upgrade my desktop system but am not sure there is a better video card solution than what I already have, but figured I'd ask. My requirements are: need either dual dvi or dvi+vga, passive cooled, low-ish power at idle. I've been using two Sapphire fanless hd4670s for many years and am ...

Re: ifx-14

not to assume anything. how does this align holes when you screw into backplate? thx it allows the Thermalright 775 bracket to fit onto the Prolimatech backplate, otherwise the 775 bracket would not align with the backplate holes it does not align holes. You put the screw through the notch you crea...

This 4670 looks quite interesting. I wonder why it's not sold more heavily, slap a big GREEN label on it at least should give it a push. Do you think it's better to get the Sapphire and then try to fit some sort of passive heatsink to it, than buy one pre-built? I gather that the factory passive I ...

Re: Results so far?

I'm also debating between the 4670 and 9600GT. I currently have an 8600GT with passive cooling. My goal is a fairly powerful card that has low temp and low power idle. Did you end up purchasing a 4670? What do you think so far? Another alternative is a DDR3 Geforce 220. Costs less and has lower pow...

Just wanted to give my support to the Sapphire HD 4670 Ultimate. I have two of them and they have excellent clock/voltage control so idle power is maybe 10W per card. Their heatsink is excellent - I replaced it with an Accelero S2 I had laying around and the temps went up by 2C, so I switched back.

In case anyone wants to know, I got this working by buying a Prolimatech Megahalems Socket LGA 1156 mounting kit ($7) and using its backplate along with the 775 bracket that came with the ifx-14. I had to use a dremel to cut a tiny notch in the ends of the 775 bracket, because without it the 775 bra...

Thanks. I borrowed a 4670 from a friend and put my accelero S2 on it - my system has no case and sits horizontally and the 4670 is running fanless right now, very stable, temp is 55C at load. At idle the card is only about 10W using my kill-a-watt, not sure about at load. Think I'll pick one up.

considering 9600gt or 4670

My processing requirements are in the range of the 9600/4670. I have been happy with the accelero S1 on various cards for some time, usually with an undervolted fan. There are many fanless models out there, but it seems that most are not as effective as an accelero s1. Anyone know of a fanless 4670/...

I need 4 monitors - the way I have been doing that is with one agp or pci-e card for monitors 1 and 2 and then a pci card for monitors 3 and 4

fanless PCI

I am building a new 4-monitor PC and want to find something that supports two monitors and is faster than the Nvidia 6200 PCI. It needs to run in a PCI (NOT pci-e) slot.

Performance and price do not matter, I just want to investigate my options of newer cards that run in a PCI slot. Thanks

decent price, LED fan, 1600-2000rpm at 12V

I am looking for fans like in the subject line. I prefer not to undervolt since I want the lights to be bright and am not interested in re-wiring the led wires to 12v and running the fan motors at 5v/7v.
