Yes, the GTS is a few cm shorter and fits the Solo without a problem.klankymen wrote:i take it the 8800gts iss smaller than the 8800gtx? because the gtx isn't supposed to fit into the solo.... just a thought.

Buy the 8800 GTS - I have both the 7900 GTO and the 8800 GTS here and the GTS is definitely as quiet as (if not quieter) than the GTO. I have a similar setup to yours: Antec Solo, Asus P5W-Deluxe, WD 5000KS, Core Duo X6800, 2 Gb RAM and Antec Phantom 500W PSU. I'm very fussy about noise as I have my...

Hissing Phantom 500
Just had to swap out my 4 week old Phantom 500 PSU as it started to make worrying noises. Initially it start emitting loud bursts of hissing at long random intervals (few times a day). Now it is emitting a regular burst of hissing at intervals of a few seconds. In fairness it didn't actually fail be...

Re: Less than pleased with Seasonic Tornado (second revision
I'm rapidly getting disillusioned with the "Seasonic Tornado 300 oem" (SS-300FT) I got from Kool'n'quiet. Any ideas? How are others getting along with their SS-300FTs? Well, as people probably may know from previous posts, my colleague and I are probably the unluckiest people alive when it comes to...

What hardware was your friend running before it went "Bang"? It was installed in a 2.66 GHz P4 box at the time - so medium/high end. However, we have been measuring the total power consumption using one of the new mains power meters from Maplins (very handy gadget - only cost 13 pounds too) and it ...

Another Prosilence bites the dust
Just in case anyone is keeping score - my friend's Prosilence 350W went  BANG  this afternoon. The machine wasn't even straining at the time - just running Word - and fortunately it doesn't seem to have caused any other damage, but I don't think we'll be buying any more of these things...

davsmith, you were the one using a PIV 3.06 with the SilentMaxx 350 unit, right? I'm wondering if all those who are experiencing a buzzing PSU might be using them with processors in the range of PIV 2.4GHz and higher (?) Well, I have tried underclocking the 3.06 to 2 GHz, and removing as many compo...

Re: Prosilence fanless 350W PSU is not silent!
Hi, I recently bought this PSU (rev 1.2), but returned it because I could hear the low frequency buzzing from it (transformer?), which became louder when CPU usage increased. It was not loud, only noticeable in quiet environment, but it was dynamic noise, which can be much more annoying than consta...

No sure why you think this would be so much better than any other? I don't know that it will be. However, the options for quiet legal high power PSUs in the UK are rather limited. So far the best I've found are the Fortron units with 120 mm fans - but here it seems to be pot-luck whether you get on...

So do you know if it's available in North America (I checked GlobalWin's USA site and they don't have it listed)? Does it use dual 80mm fans (if not then it would suck). I'm curious, are the core and heatsink lapped? And what are the specifics of your system? Were you able to apply the G751 in a thin coat? I'm trying to get a handle on when G751 is the best choice. The X23-7762 I ordered has a viscosity of 100 and thickens to 600 over 3 days of use, and thermal transfer goes from 4.23 W/M k to 6.5 W /M k Interesting numbers - Arctic Silver 3 is rated at 9.0 W/mK - which actually means it is a better conductor of heat than pure mercury - but surely that sugges...

Lucky you. Mine has a ball bearing fan (D12BM-12). This is just the problem, isn't it. Even specifying a particular model of PSU, obviously doesn't guarantee that you get what you need. It sounds as though Fortron just slap in whatever fan was cheapest that week. Either that, or they don't realise ...

That power-hungry rig of yours probably needs a more powerful PSU for sure. I don't know that it is fair to put a noise optimized thermal-controlled fan PSU into a case/system not well thought-through for good cooling/ventilation, forcing the PSU fans to do the bulk of the case air cooling, then say the PSUs are ripoffs. :?: You only mention a mid-sized AOpen case.
