I'll post a picture when I get back from vacation. Yes, there's a significant risk of destroying the heat pipes. I got the heatsink for $18 and felt it'd be worth the risk. I used a small pair of channel locks to squeeze and bend. The copper is so thin that it requires very little effort to do the p...

I just got an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro (bigass mofo) to fit inside the NSK-2400. I took the top four fins off and crimped the heatpipes off to the side to shorten the overall height. Sure it reduces cooling performance some, but it allows the biggest heatsink I've ever set eyes on fit inside my...

heh... maybe you plugged it in the wrong way (wrong polarity) Cheap PSU's have a tendency to die all the time. Anyway, the thing is still plugged into the thermal probe, so if the thing overheats it should spin the fan up. I had a thermistor in there for a while, and my temps were peachy. They actua...

Well, I used to not have them there, and just relied on my unmodded Antec True480 to pull air out. that worked all right, but flow in my case sucked bad. I've now modded my PSU to have only one L1A in it, so it has a whole lot less airflow. The L1As at less than 8v are silent to me from anywhere pas...

My CPU temps sky rocket without the intake fan. Idle 55c. The intake fan is the only flow over my heater core! Fan at 12v = some noise, CPU temp 2 degrees lower than fan on PSU control. Fan at 0v = no noise, CPU temp over 55 degrees. Having the intake fan PSU controlled works just fine, keeps my tem...

How many fans is too many?
I have four. All L1As.
I have three 80mm L1A's, one in True480 PSU, two as case exhaust, and one 120mm as intake on my heater core.
I'm water cooled, and have to have the 120 pulling air through the core.

I modded my Antec True 480
I took out those 92mm and 80mm fans in the PSU, deciding that the PSU really only needed one fan, ala 380S style. I replaced the 80mm fan with a Panaflo L1A, and soldered the leads to the 3 pin plug (not standard mobo style) with some heatshrink tubing. You'd never know it didn't come like that from...

What's a fast, but quiet, HDD?
My WD1200JB is the most annoying part of my system, but I am addicted to its speed. The cudas just seem a little too slow for a replacement, but what else would be good? I'm looking for something that is at least in the same ballpark as the WD1200JB drives, but a lot quieter. I'm willing to pay a pr...

How should I silence my pump?
I have an Eheim 1250 that makes some noise due to the vibrations it transfers to the case. What is a reasonably thin (I can't elevate it too much, or it fargles the path to the heater core) method of dampening the vibrations? It needs to be secure, ie, no velcro or just sitting it down on foam pads....

How to silence PSU? Antec True480
Well, this thing has two fans in it. I'm guessing an 80 and a 92? I haven't bothered to check what the intake fan was. Anyway, I want to make the thing quieter. I read that you can replace the fans with Panaflo L1A units. I have several questions: 1) Do I need to replace both fans? Or can I eliminat...
