Zalman (new) and Enermax PSUs - free if you pay shipping

I have the following potentially useful PSUs that I don't want to just throw out. I'm guessing these aren't quiet compared to more recent models, but perhaps they can be modified. If anyone thinks they're not worth the effort, let me know and I'll try to find a place to recycle them. If they are use...

NIB Abit ST6-RAID and 1.2Ghz Celeron - ANY VALUE TO THESE?

I bought these years ago for a silent PC project, but never built it. This motherboard model is known for it's under-volting capability. This could make a low-power file server or light-duty PC. The motherboard is complete with cables and manual. The CPU is a retail box with stock HSF. I opened the ...

While the WD1200JB would have been a little noisy to begin with, it's likely that it's much louder now than when you purchased it. I've had a lot of WDs and IBMs here at work get very noisy bearings after a couple of years. I've never been turned down for an RMA for this reason, so you might want to...

I presume you were attmepting raid 0 there, cos i now raid 1 doesnt help performance in the slightest. griff Actually, if the RAID controller supports split reads, as the Promise products do, there is a significant performance boost. My page file is not completely contiguous on disk, whereas before it was fragmented into 11,800 pieces. That will really kill performance. Swapping is bad enough, but when you add in extreme fragmentation, forget it. To prevent this from happening in the future without having to defrag all the time...

reasonably quiet, inexpensive laptop?

Does anyone have any suggestions, preferably under US$1,000? Part of the time it would be used for basic audio editing, adding voice over a background of light music. Recording studio levels of background noise aren't needed, but a constant whining or whooshing easily noticed in the end product obvi...

Hey everyone, I haven't been involved since the beginning, but it has still been amazing to watch how much our team has grown. We've recently reached or will soon reach three milestones. The first milestone is that we recently reached 100 active members, although the current count at Extremeovercloc...
