Posted my first couple work units in over a year. Feels good to be back and on the climb... The CLIMB is the most exciting part, is it not?

It's interesting what got me "excited" about folding again. The fact that they announced support coming for folding on ATI GPUs. Makes perfect sense! And the speed you could achieve with a GPU -- probably amazing!

I'm Back!

I remember the good old days! When SPCR was in its infancy, and the Folding Team was going strong.. When we had battles back and forth with the Knights who Say Ni! and others -- I won't ever forget the fun and comraderie.... taunting each other on forums, etc. Good times -- I fired up F@h on this PC...

After a long hiatus, I'm back for some more folding action, for my FAVORITE team of course! Got a couple crunchers going (2.8c and 2.4b)... I used to be in the top 100 for our team, but now I'm WAY DOWN there! Good to see so many coming in and helping. I guess my goal for now is to get back into the...

Well I'm back... Got a couple of CPUs crunching for us -- two instances on a 2.4c and a one running on a 2.4b.

I am back... forgot to keep a couple of desktops going after I had to deploy that stack of new P4 2.4Bs...

I made it into the top 100 really quick (under a week) but now I can see I'm down to 111 already! Good job fellas!

Dang... RAM was delivered this morning for these 20 CPUs. I'm going to rollout the first 10 today-tomorrow. I've restarted the clients with the -oneunit flag so they can finish up what they're working on before I have to deploy.

They claim that their Macs don't choke on the Tinkers, but I think they have just as many PCs as we do. (And PCs don't like Tinkers...) They know that PCs are a much cheaper way to fold.

yay! (finally finishing up those Tinkers...) I fired up 10 of 'em around 4-5 pm on Friday. Guess they're finally getting through them.

I've gotta figure out a way to get some more permanent borgs. These 10 won't help us when I have to pull them offline to deploy to users this week.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of my 10 borged units are working on Tinkers... :( I have 5 others that I started up day before yesterday, but most of them have the GUI client (my 10 have text client, and I can see they're doing Tinkers). I haven't folded for the team in nearly 6 months, (I've only contributed 12 WU)... I started the client up on a 2.4c I have here @ my desk and a couple of P3 1GHz machines nearby I use for testing.

We shall beat them down...

The fan I used was a Delta AUB1212M pulled from a Delta-labeled power supply pulled from a more recent HP Vectra desktop PC. I'll see if I can get some pics tonight - I have a cheapo webcam so it won't look really nice, but will at least give you an idea. The only place I could find specs from Googl...

Antec TruePower 430 -- I get the high-pitched squeal either way I run it(error checking off OR on). This is the one I did the 120mm fan mod to. Oh yes - P4 2.4b, (2) 256 sticks of 333 DDR, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, Cuda IV and (yuck!) WD1200JB, Sony DVD+-RW, 48x CDRW, cheapo Firewire card, Video capture ...

Antec TP 430 Modded with 120mm fan!

Now that my beloved Antec TruePower 430 warranty has expired, I decided to modify it. The two stock fans seem to be a bit noisy, especially after the PC is nice and warmed up. What is worse, is that they seem to oscillate against each other, with a rising/falling noise/vibration. Rather than swap ou...
