Ultra X-Connect 500W, free after rebate
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2179650 anybody see a reason not to get this? I'm not a fan of bling but who cares if it's free, it could be a free backup PSU. I skimmed a few reviews and I didn't see any red flags. Loudness I guess isn't really a factor if I use it for a backu...

Sun Fire T1000 Server
hehe, not sure if it belongs in this forum, but better than the others I guess. I saw this in an ad http://www.sun.com/servers/coolthreads/t1000/?cid=718 in an ad. It starts at $2995 supposedly which actually isn't too far off desktop prices. They have a photo of the insides there. It has 4 little f...

haha. Yeah now that you mention it the doctor once said I had a lot of wax in there and that my ears would become clogged eventually. Getting water in my ear when swimming is more of a problem than it used to be so I tried ear drops to remove the wax but they didn't do jack. They ended up never clog...

ok well now that I know what IEMs are, they look cool and probably sound very good, but they still go in your ears. My ears hurt sometimes after wearing foam earplugs for a while and are at least uncomfortable, not just earbuds. It's weird, it's sore for the rest of the day. Also, I don't get how pe...

My grandpa (87) has trouble hearing (and my other grandpa did too for that matter), he has to use hearing aids and it's still not that great. (but he is still healthy and gets around well, has all his teeth, keeps a large garden, climbs on the steep roof to clean the gutters sheesh.) Since I plan on...

My buddy bought this power supply (500w) so I thought I'd report what he tells me to get a little SPCR oriented info about this PSU in the thread. To give you an idea of my friend's perspective, he is amazed at the quietness of my Living Room computer but he is getting into quietness himself. I know...

Jabil 440BX mobo, temp readings?
I have a Jabil 440BX chipset motherboard in my (originally) Gateway computer. I just installed a Powerleap slotket and now have a Celeron 1.4Ghz in there, it works great, but I've never been able to get temp readings from anything in there. I guess my motherboard just doesn't do it?? since it was a ...

that's what I call it. I figured why not post this. It was my first computer, my folks were nice enough to buy it for me summer after freshman year 1999. They said it was because I had been a cheap kid :) Originally it was a Gateway PIII slot-1 550 mhz and with minimal modifications it is a great si...

Replacing the fan(s) sounds good to me, costs $80 or so less. I replaced the single 92mm bottom fan in the Living Room computer's 200w Astec PSU with a panaflo L1A and it is really quiet now. I have some concern with PSU heat though, is that an issue or would there not be any trouble pushing my syst...

My 7200.7 makes a kind of high air noise it seems like that can only be heard with my ear 6 inches or so away. The very high whine is even quieter. Well, if 500mv = .5V you should be correct. Have you tried increasing the Vcore to see if it actually goes up? Are you "saving changes" to the BIOS after you change the Vcore? Yes Ralfie I'm saving the changes... and it shows up as my previous choice on the next reboot. I haven't increased it yet, ...
