My new Tyan Trinity i875 (S5101) appears to undervolt. I have the ANNRF but I bet the ANF is the same way. http://www.tyan.com/products/html/trinityi875p.html I haven't tried to make any changes yet. The manual doesn't show any negative choices for voltages but in BIOS the choices for "CPU Voltage"...

I graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2002 with a degree in CS, but now I work for a mortgage company. I couldn't get an internship while in school, the closest I came was a trip to Dallas, TX for an all day thing with HP. That didn't work due to very many reasons (probably would have g...

I have a friend that has 4 of these on his 4 10k rpm scsi drives. The only part of the hard drive not covered by the sound absorption foam stuff is the sides. He says: well they work great for me, I have the Hard Drive encased in the foam and it stays under 50 degrees c inside. the foam fits between...

CoolMax Taurus CX Series Silent Power Supply
I'd like to see this reviewed, my friend has it and says it's quiet. He bought it for the high 5v current. http://www.coolmaxusa.com/product/product_ps_list_04.html CoolMax Taurus CX Series Silent Power Supply. It has a 120mm fan, open back grill style, SATA power, a fan switch with Auto, Low and Me...

Ralf, one question - do you think much noise is created from the 92mm L1BX vibrating on the heatsink? Ie. a 80mm w/a silicone grommet could be one solution. oh, and I've got to add this: if you reversed the CPU fan, the fan would not cool as well, but would no longer fight the exhaust fan for air. ...

Well success so far! I ran 3dmark a few times with other stuff running and fans on low, once with AOM. It got hot so I guess I did it right. I plan on putting a panflo on the side of it on a zalman arm bracket, I just need to bend it for it to fit. There are a few more things on the vidcard that get...

ok there was a poor job of goop on the core, it wasn't covered in some parts. Hopefully that was the problem. Now, the front base you put on it won't touch it at all since it doesn't have the lowered part like the stock HSF had. I guess it will take lots of goop. Well now that I look at it from the ...

Doing ATI 9800 Pro - Zalman HP80C today
I have had problems with my comp restarting, I talked about it in some old threads. I have a 120mm case fan and a Zalman 7000alcu which both have a fanmate on them. The restart problem occurs with high system usage obviously. I have gotten it to restart after a while of 2 Prime95s but for the most p...

Tyan really puts some bells and whistles on those things don't they. Check this out: http://www.tyan.com/products/html/g9800prom.html
much bigger heatsink, a software monitor, fan control. I wish I could do this with my 9800 pro.

Hey, so when an HDD has 2 platters, are they spinning independently or are they both anchored the same way to the um driveshaft? If they are both anchored then they are acting as one disk, but if they have some independence then there is the possiblity of mechanical resonance which wouldn't occur wi...

Well thanks Ralf for the info. I'm a little disapointed to hear about the Intel board. It seems like there is no 100% trust worthy company these days. They all seem to have their shit products, some just more than others. I had the same (limited experience) impression of Intel boards that Ralf had....

Hey St. Louis :) what is the glass used for, I guess for a flat surface right? do you lay the sandpaper on the glass and then move the heatsink around on it? Lapping
ok, newbie question, what exactly is lapping? I've never heard of that word not used in the racing sense until I saw a couple threads here. I gather that it is smoothing the heatsink base for better performance. Do you use very fine sandpaper or what? Also, what kind of performance improvement would...

My parents use a HP 660Cse and it's fine but the inline (brick, or whatever you call them) power supply makes a very annoying buzz whenever it's plugged in no matter if the printer is on or not. I don't have a printer myself but my roommate has a Lexmark which is acting up, but it's ok to a bit nois...
