Don't kill your other poll. It's starting to get the kind of discussion that you'd expect for the topic. Sorry if I kicked it off on a tangent for awhile there.

I had to vote "other" because you didn't include "both" as a choice. For creating music, I like tubes. All the fuzz boxes and processors in the world still don't quite match the tube grunge on Jon Lord's B3 work with Deep Purple. There's also got to be a higher reason that Jimi Hendrix' middle name ...

David? He's just some snot-nosed kid who showed up on the folding team a few weeks ago and built himself a rocket-powered rig (that blew by me in short order  ) just to show off. You guys are a class act. While we have our own little races and competitions, the big one is SPCR -vs- the rest of the folding teams, and you are making a big contribution to that. The EOC stats say that we have no threats and we were a big threat to several teams ahead of us. Your folding juggerna...

When very near the equator, the direction of the water spin will change depending on barometric pressure and the gravitational pull of the moon and other planets. I did once see wa...

Comments on this folding farm idea?

My current folding farm fantasy is based on the popular "blade" configuration, eventually having 8 blades in the farm. Each blade would consist of: Biostar M7NCG 400 nForce2 uATX mobo Barton XP2500 CPU (OCed to 3200 by raising FSB to 400) 128-256Mb PC3200 RAM You'll notice that there's no HSF listed...

Right this minute? Nightline on TV. It's too late for the stuff I've been listening to lately: Canadian punk rock. I threw the whole age curve off at the mosh pit last Saturday night in Boston. My daughter, her friend from Poland, and I saw Jersey, Sugarcult, Simple Plan, and MXPX. We had a great ti...

Rather than using the duct to get the HSF air out of the case, why not duct cool outside air directly to the HSF and let the PSU and any other exhaust fans worry about getting the warm air out? Cool air directly to the CPU is usually a big win. Check out all three parts of bluefront's article on his...

Ahhh, the folly of benchmarks! You're right about there being too many variables in the single/dual/P4/Xeon/PPC equation. Better to test a single Xeon -vs- single PPC -vs- dual Xeon -vs- dual PPC with the same benchmark. The CPU is only a part of the equation when it comes to multiprocessing. The in...

I'm not sure that I'd say OCing increases power consumption. If, as has happened in the past, CPU yield is so good that AMD is basically just making 3200s and then locking the multipliers on them to create lower-rated CPUs, then I'd say power consumption on an OC is not an issue, since you shouldn't...
