Well, I completed the project last weekend. Here are the results... http://lh4.google.com/oldredtop8479/R6yjiIWvfuI/AAAAAAAAAWs/YuA818nLh-I/Suspended%20Drive.JPG My main concern was HDD stability inside the case and operating temps. I am happy to report that the drive will not touch the case when mo...

Just want to add my thanks to Mike and all of the guys who posted pics in this thread and inspired me to give it try. It works great. The hardrive is very stable, cool (35c under max load), and no vibration in the case at all. Mine is a derivative of Romeo's design further up this thread. Just some ...

Thanks for the replies guys. Mike, You would think that a nearly 5 year member would have a clue. So sorry you had to answer this same question for the up-teenth time! I didn't consider the suspension option and I haven't checked out the storage area on the forum for a while. I do check the SPCR sit...

A question about my case...
I've got three PC's in Antec 2600BQE cases. I run cool and quiet (not silent) except for some case vibration. It's mostly a low frequency "hum", but I would like to see what I can do to diminish or eliminate it. The Western Digital SE16 hard drives are mounted on the standard Antec grommet mounts in...

Thanks for the discussion guys. Good points on the AM2 platform and the various options to look at there. My concerns with the phasing out of 939 boards were the reason I was looking at Core2Duo. It's apparent to me (with your help)that Core2Duo still has too much of a premium and does not warrant t...

Thanks for the replies, guys. I looked at those boards on Newegg prior to my post here and was concerned by some of the reviews for the under $100 boards. Seems that some folks are experiencing reliability issues. That has been so un-typical of my prior experiences with boards in that price range th...

What would you do?
My Gigabyte Socket 939 system board just died. I've got a A64 3000+ (Venice). Several ways to go on this and thought I would tap the mindshare here... :D It's a general use system(surfing, email, MS office) and not for gaming. Would you look to find a replacement socket 939 system board (getting har...

Nice rig! Very well thought out and lots of bang for the buck. I've been considering a similar setup for my next build. Couple of questions... #1 - How do you think a Scythe Ninja heatsink would perform in your case compared to the XP-120? #2 - Is the case duct adjustable and is it a major source of...

Just did one
I just put an S12 in my 4252 last night. Bit of a tight fit but it went into position without forcing or modifying anything. I'm using an ABIT NF-7 mb with a large Thermalright SLK-900 heatsink. Everything fits just fine. BTW, the S12 is an exceptional PS. Very quiet, and a nice fan controller built...

Thanks Ralf and Rusty, I saw all of the undervolt threads, but my search parameters were not as good as yours. Where I was confused (and thanks for clearing my mind) was the relationship of undervolting to FSB. NONE! The explanantion of underclocking and boosting the FSB were the 2 factors I was aft...

Undervolt and Overclock?
Hi all... I just built a quiet (not silent) system. I have a Athlon Mobile 2400+, an ABIT NF7-S and 1 gig of Mushkin PC 3500 DDR Ram. I seem to remember from past posts on this forum, discussions regarding undervolting the CPU and overclocking the memory to achieve cooler operation while at the same...
