BladeRunner, I bow to your greatness.

I'm going to start another watercooling project, soon. I'm sure mine will pale in comparison to yours, but I'm trying :)

(Has anyone ever seen a waterblock as shiny as BladeRunner's? I think not.)

I've updated the forum-version of the article, with some pics of the rack installed in a mid-tower Antec case. http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=234798 *EDIT* I tried to post the pics, here, but they won't show up for some reason, though they work fine at the Overclockers.com ...

I agree, it sounds like that was the wrong stuff. I think what you need is something that will give a fairly thick layer - I suspect you need about as much thickness as the roofers tape at a minimum. If all else fails, I think McMasters has the roofers tape (as well as some other alternative produc...

That D8000 case is great, Regent. I ordered the same case, from a different distributor and it has been great. I like it much more than the SLK3700. Let us know how that stuff from McMaster-Carr works out. I'm going to be ordering some other stuff from them soon, anyway, and I've had a hard time fin...

aphonos, at my local Lowes, they said that they used to stock it, but don't anymore, evidently. I didn't think to ask them if they could special-order it. I may do that. I had read that other thread, in the past, but I overlooked some of it, the last time I read it last. It seems McMaster-Carr may s...

Here's a Shock-Mount hard drive rack design of mine. It can lower your hard drive noise a bit. It won't work wonders, but it will help, especially if your drives are transferring vibration into the case, which often amplifies the noise. http://www.overclockers.com/tips1108/ P.S. I've been looking ar...

http://www.overclockers.com/tips1097/CaseExhaust.jpg That is the worst Dremel job I've ever seen in my life. 100x worse than my FIRST Dremel job on a fan hole. Yeah, I actually used a jigsaw. It is REALLY ugly, but MUCH faster than a dremel. I own a dremel, I just don't have the patience to use it ...

Another thing that I have to keep in mind, when recommending PSU's for duallies, is that different motherboards have differing amounts of picky-ness. For example, my first MSI K7D Master -L would not POST will any PSU I tried between 300 and 350 watts. This included an Antec SL350 and several 300 wa...

My testing procedure, for full load, included tests that stressed the hard drives, optical drives, video card, etc. Yes, in my testing, all the PCI attached devices were idle. I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect disk activity on ALL your drives in the real world-- whereas 100% load on both CPU...

...In light of my findings and the amperage use of the 5V line in powergyoza's tests, I think there really is a case to be made for high wattage PSU's for AMD duallies. ... I'm not sure that is the best general advice. In all your tests the highest usage (I think) you have seen is circa 350W AC, wh...

comes up to 157-174.5 Watts used by the MB, RAM, and CPU's (and idle PCI peripherals, which I assume aren't using any power. I'd be interested to see the individual breakdown. No, the Ti4600 does not have a separate power connector.

What I have been doing, to get full load, is run two instances of Prime95 (I have a dually), Passmarks's BurnInTest (this stresses the CPU, memory, hard drives, Optical drives, and floppy drive), then I run 3DMark2003 on top of all that. I noticed that the addition of 3DMark adds quite a lot of watt...

Cmcquistion, a good way to test what seems to be the huge portion of the total power draw that the CPU's are supposedly using, 183W out of the total 203W, would be to remove the extra devices one at a time and see what the total does. For example, if you try the same test but with one optical drive...

Ok, so, say I have a system that is using 294 watts at full load, according to the Kill-A-Watt Meter, and I assume that the PSU's efficiency is 65%. (I really do have a system using this much juice) Does this means that the components in the system are really drawing 191 watts, and the PSU is produ...

my readings of 158/254 show that the PSU is losing 96 watts due to A/C conversion efficiency? No not quite. It is losing 96W in "AC harmonics". Uh... because the PSU presents itself as a difficutl load for the electric company to drive AC juice into. This does not normally show up on a consumer uti...

I'm a little fuzzy on the efficiency aspect. From what you are saying, my readings of 158/254 show that the PSU is losing 96 watts due to A/C conversion efficiency? Then, it is losing another 35% of that 158 watts due to D/C conversion efficiency? Do I have those straight? Is there an easy way to de...

Well, here are the numbers I got from my overclocked Palomino system: At idle, 136 Watt meter and 223 VA meter. At full load, 158 Watt Meter and 254 VA Meter. My PSU is a Fortron FSP300-60PN. [not FSP300-60PN(PF)] So, which of those numbers can I compare to my PSU's ratings (3.3+5) or 3.3+5+12) to d...

For what its worth, I bought a Vantec 520 Watt Stealth PSU. It is the LOUDEST PSU I have EVER owned, even though it has manual and automatic speed settings. I consider them Loud, Very Loud, and Automatically Loud.

I recommend to everyone to stay away from it.

Question about how to use Kill-A-Watt Device

I just got a Kill-A-Watt device, but I have a question about the readouts it gives. This is what it says about the Watt/VA key: The Watt/VA Key is a toggle function key. Press the Watt/VA key once to display Watt meter , then press key to display VA meter . The LCD will display Watts as the active p...
