told ya it would work.
check the weblinks for some temp monitoring utilities that will use the HD's built in sensors, I personally use DTemp periodically to make sure everything's good.

i'm not so sure this sticky thread is the right place to answer basic questions like this. This is meant for people to share and compare developed methods. That said, the mods will be the ones to make that decision.... vector3, your questions can be answered by basic physics texts on sound and vibra...

http://jondw1.home.comcast.net/evercase.html I updated the page with some new photos and annotations. It is a mess, and not silent, but it's quieter I guess, and temps are ok. As long as I don't breathe on it, hopefully everything won't implode and it will live to see another day. Naturally I'd fee...

I haven't done much yet. I did manage to remove the "fan cage" and make a general temporary mess of things. I am incredibly unhandy and might need some help. I live in Detroit, I don't know if there's anyone nearby. *I'd even pay for help*... if I knew who to ask. That said, I want to make sure to p...

When i have a chance i will pull that speaker box out, it certainly does restrict airflow. Unless I could somehow use it to elastic mount drives in. And move the fan to the inside of the case, then the obstruction shouldn't matter, really, right? i will have to measure some stuff. Do you happen to k...

I recommend removing the cage that holds the speaker. (This can be seen at the top right of this picture) Yeah, if you'll look at my little sketch on my link of photos, I describe this as the "fan cage." I think we are talking about the same thing, that whole big box. I wanted to get it out of the ...

Evercase 9400 (4U Rackmount case) need help w/ mods
I have been lurking here for quite some time, and now I have decided I am finally fed up, and need to go ahead and post my half-baked ideas. this computer noise has honestly driven me insane. Seriously. I cannot hear myself think. The case I am trying to silence is an Evercase 9400 4U Rackmount. Her...

Regarding the warranty issue, please note that if you buy a retail box drive the warranty is only 1 year for ALL models. http://www.seagate.com/support/service/warranty.html That's a little disappointing considering I got the 120GB 8MB cache model on sale at COMPUSA last week. Usually retail box is ...
