hello again! yes Ralf the fans on the zalman are pretty close to the panaflo but it all fits in nicely! Worst bit was taking a large screwdriver to the motherboard to lever off the backing plate which was firmly attached with a double sided sticky pad! the panaflos came from here http://www....

Aopen i855 in Silverstone LC09?
Would this fit? If not any other cool looking cases with silent external PSUs that this board would fit?
TIA

I've narrowed the problem down a bit! When it fitst starts up at circa 1200rpm the fan is pretty quiet, but after 5 minutes or so it's up to 1750rpm and making loadsa noise! I've had a look at Speedfan but it seems unable to cap the fan speed. I'm running a Duron 1.6 cos I read there were low power ...

Now I know this is not just me because a few of you guys have already commented on it! Does anyone reckon there could be just a dodgy batch going around? Anybody swapped the fan out with a Panaflo and noticed a marked improvement but does this mean finding somebody who is good with a soldering iron?...

Thorton & Duron
Anybody got any info on the new Athlon XP Thorton? My local supplier is stocking the 2000+ now but I can't find any info, particularly regarding power dissipation. The usual place (with the charts) doesn't list it. Also I see the power output for the Duron 1.6 is very good. Anybody got any performan...

Are we 'paranoid' about component temps?
Thanks to Ralf in another thread I see that the 'max case temp' for an Athlon XP2400 is 85 degrees. A Pentium P4 2.4 'max cover temp' is 74 degrees. Are these temps comparable and how does this equate to 'cpu temp'? I installed speedfan on my Dell Precision at work today (we all love our Dells cos t...

Are either of these MBs undervoltable?
Asus P4S533MX
or
MSI P4MAM-L
I know they're not in the 'undervotable list' but was wondering if anybody has experience with either?
Thanks

ah, well spotted Tobias thanks. I congratulate you on your manipulation skills  I've since found this review http://www.silentpcreview.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=16&page=2 and I am more inclined to try the single psu fan approach, but with it prot...

Sorry, I meant the CPU cooler. It sort of looks like it's got a side mounted fan! I've used this case before and it's nice and compact but makes lots of noise as standard. I was wondering if I could replace the stock PSU fan with something bigger and use this in conjunction with a decent copper fan/...
