At full voltage the Papst is definitely audible within a 3 meter range, mostly airflow noise. The 4412F2/GL (with tacho) spinning at 900rpm is VERY quiet, almost inaudible in a case. In my book it is THE best 120mm fan available. I haven't tried it on a radiator, but I would think at 7v the Papst wo...

Was that card made by ATI or another vendor? Not all vendors use the same quality components for the "same" ATI chipset card, and it would be nice to know which vendor had the problem with the 9500 Pro , and if it was the same vendor who made the 9600 Pro. It is an original ATI retail box card. As ...

Seasonic squeals with Radeon 9500 Pro!

I've tried both the Super Silencer 400 and the Super Tornado 400 (both rev A2) in a system with an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro w/MagicGFX@7v and the loud high-pitched squeal from the PSUs is unbearable! Switched to a 9600 Pro and the noise disappeared. I guess the Seasonics don't work well with the 9500 Pro...

This just shows how much the "Antec" vents contribute to the cooling of the Sonata system. With the vents closed, temps would rise between 4-8 degrees. So with the Sonata, all fans could be operated at a lower rpm and still achieve good thermal performance, but the Antec vents would allow some noise...

Hmm, interesting. I would have expected the results to be flip-flopped in favor of the Chenbro. So did I, Ralf. In fact I even remounted the heatsink with a fresh application of AS5 but the results were the same. I'm actually quite disappointed with the Chenbro, since it is a far superior case when...

I thought I'd share some of my experiences with the two cases. All components are the same except for the addition of NoVibes III in the Xpider: XP1700+(200x10@1.475v), SLK900A/Panaflo 92LB1X@1600rpm, 8RDA+, 256x2 Corsair @2-3-2-12, Radeon 9500Pro w/MagicGFX@7v, 180GXP, Zalman 400w PSU, Papst 4412F/...

I agree. Having used Barracuda IVs exclusively before being discontinued, I took the plunge like you did and bought the 180GXP, and then 2x 7K250. I'll take the Hitachi drives anytime over the Seagate 7200.7 for one good reason: AAM. Even with AAM disabled, seek noise is far less obstrusive on the H...

If you're referring to the Zalman 7000 series, it is an integrated heatsink and fan design. The package includes the Zalman Fanmate too.

Mmm... I don't understand whats your problem. CPU idle temperature raises up due to a bad PSU ?? 70ºC?? Sorry for not elaborating on what's wrong with the PSU. Be very careful as to which fan controller you use, as most are PWM controllers which are very noisy. IMHO, the Seasonic Super Silencer 400 would be the best bet. The Zalman 400A gets a little noisier when compared to the SS-400AGX when things get hot. So a well ventilated case is a must. I've just finished building a box with the TG480. I must say that the quality of the PSU is exceptional - twisted wires, exceptional finishing and attention to details. Thanks, Ralf.
BTW, I've got the 7-pin audio connectors just like davidos. Could this be the "defective" batch that was the reason behind the delay for releasing the product? I find it hard to believe Antec would make such mistakes given their past success in case design.
