Okay, i gotcha now... i just thought PCX might have been some kind of abbreviation for PCI Express.... good news for one of my friends then, who has the 6600GT PCI Express version. Bah... i'm getting a 6600GT AGP which has the bridge chip... guess there aren't any quiet cooling solutions that will f...

Which fan did you get? Panaflo 80mm M1A. I think it works good... and the air that comes out is quite warm already. I personally reckon the air turbulence from the 120mm stock antec fan @ 5V is already over powering the panaflo M1A (connected to thermally controlled plugs at idle) so an L1A wouldn'...

After a bit more load testing (folding), it turns out that it does get noticably louder, though still not as loud as idle with the old fan. temps are also higher.... CPU/MB of 42/36 and before it was 41/33.... so nothing to worry about. Overall i'm happy and i don't think it can get much quieter wit...

mormakil, i did the swap for the panaflo 80M today and first impressions is that it's good. It got rid of the clicking noise i had which was probably due to a problem with the old fans bearing since i get the noise when i spin it by hand. Noise is lower - noticably lower but not silent. I think the ...

Buzz, well i replaced the fan in my PSU with a panaflo 80M and the clicking noise has gone. And overall a lot quieter. I spun the old fan with my hand and it made the clicking noise... so i'm thinking it's something wrong with the bearing as there's nothing obviously outside that's touching anything.

My PSU is the single fan 380S that came with the Sonata case, so it doesn't have a 92mm fan on it. I don't need it to cool the case much... it seems to me that the PSU is making the most heat in the computer so it jsut needs to cool itself down. I've got a 120mm stock antec on 5V and will get a vga ...

Oh yeah, also I'm going to try to bend the intake vents so that it can increase airflow. Do you think taking away the exhaust grill would make much difference? I don't think it would be dangerous to do so cause i never poke my hand behind the case since it's under my desk but i wouldn't bother to if...

Poke something soft into the back exhaust of the psu. i used my plastic wrist watch strap. Only for a moment or so. Alternately, you could poke it in before turning it on to stop it from starting i guess. Probably not a good idea to do too often. Oh yeah, do so at your own risk, though i believe the...

Would it be okay for me to run a panaflo 80M at say 5V at full load instead of connecting it to the thermal regulated plugs? Currently the stock antec fan in the psu is at about 1550-1600rpm at full load (folding). I run my computer at full load most of the time for folding and video encoding and ot...

Hey Spacey, Just wondering if you connected the L1A to the thermal controlled leads or to a fixed voltage (and what voltage)? Is that enough to cool it in your opinion, and do you run it at load a lot (like for games or folding). I'm getting a M1A but afraid that it may be too loud to use continuous...

Hey Buzz, yeah that's what my one does too - its has a continuous high frequency clicking whilst spinning at about 1400rpm.... I'm not convinced that it's "normal" since not many others have complained about it. I asked Antec about it and they said it could be a faulty fan controller inside. But i r...

Newbie needing help to mod 380S
Hi all, just wanting some advise on replacing the fan inside the Antec 380S PSU that came with my sonata case.... i'm planning on replacing it and connecting it to the thermally controlled fan controller that's currently connected to the fan running now. I've got severe continuous clicking in the PS...
