After alittle research on the internet i found that the best dual DVD-writer was Pioneer DVR-106 (A06 retail), sure the Plextor writers are faster, but that means they are more expensive also, and i heard that the availability of 8X blank DVDs are poor.

damn, i was just thinking about buying the exact same hdd. but now this thread makes me want to look over all the harddrive choices again, i hope that you just had a faulty harddrive and not all the harddrives are like that.

i found this one, SAMSUNG_SPIN P40 80GB 7200RPM UDMA100 (SP8004H) 126,91 USD and then a UDMA133 version. i just checked a computerstore here in sweden, they have lots of samsung harddrives. so it will be no problem to find a samsung drive.

isen´t it possible to have long cables for the CD/DVD-drive also?

then you could just forget about the the computer in the other room, and have the CD/DVD drive on your table or where ever.
