Any update on recent silent cases and their quality?
It's time to replace my old computer. I've always bought Antec cases because of their high quality and focus on silence. Any ideas if Antec is still the best when it comes to silent cases?

Re: Silent (or quiet) upgrade for my Radeon 6850
Thanks for the recommendation. The 960 was the perfect upgrade at the perfect price. I'm very satisfied with the purchase. I can barely hear the card even under load.

Silent (or quiet) upgrade for my Radeon 6850
I have a silent PowerColor SCS3 Radeon HD 6850 with a quiet fan blowing on it. I want to upgrade my video card but I don't want it to be loud. What are my options? I don't mind if the card is a little noisy while playing games.

Re: How safe is keeping an external hard drive in a closed s
The problem is the seek noise, which is amplified by the vibration of the enclosure.
Oh, and I haven't checked if AAM is disabled or enabled.. Does AAM come enabled by default?

Re: How safe is keeping an external hard drive in a closed s
This is the enclosure: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817173042 The drive is a 500GB WD Green drive. I'm willing to do anything to quiet it as long as it doesn't create a fire hazard. Right now I can't replace the drive because I have tons of recorded shows I still need to wat...

How safe is keeping an external hard drive in a closed space
I have a DVR with an external hard drive connected to it. The external hard drive is too loud and it's always being accessed. Always. So I've decided to build a small wooden cabinet to house the external hard drive. Can I make the cabinet completely sealed? Would it get too hot? (my guess is yes). S...

I need a silent enclosure and hard drive
My DirecTV DVR makes too much noise. It's constantly accessing the hard drive. I need to find an external eSATA case and a quiet hard drive to use with my DVR. It has to be as quiet as possible. Any recommendations?

Question about installing an SSD in an Antec P183 V3 Case
The Antec P183 V3 has holes to mount an SSD, but they come with the silicone grommets. I tried using the long screws that go through the grommets into the drive, but those screws don't fit the SSD (A Crucial C300). I thought maybe removing the silicone grommets would help, but then I noticed that I ...

Which material would transfer heat but not vibration?
I sucessfully installed a Caviar Green drive in a Rosewill enclosure without any direct contact from the HD to the enclosure (except for the sata connection). I used a couple of rubber pads to isolate the drive. However, I'm worried that the drive will get too hot, since the heat won't be transferre...

I bought a Rosewill enclosure for 3.5" hard drives, but after installing a Seagate Barracuda 320GB drive, I was disappointed with the loud noise emanating from it. I think I"m going to install a 2.5" hard drive in the enclosure and suspend it with cords. Is the loud noise the fan? I bought a Rosewi...

Re: New noiseless mouse from Nexus
I was happy with my Nexus silent mouse until I found out about the QuietSmooth mouse from quietmouse.com. I got to try it and it is definitely quieter than the Nexus mouse, especially the right mouse button. The right mouse button on the Nexus is much louder than the left, at least on the mouse I go...

Re: quiet eSata drive for DVR
I don't know how quiet you need, but I have been very happy with the sound levels of the newest generation green drives. For enclosures I've been happily using the Antec MX-1 for a good number of years. It looks good, but it's kind of expensive. I was thinking of getting an enclosure without a fan,...

Re: New noiseless mouse from Nexus
Nexus Silent Mouse The only reason I might not replace my current mouse (Logitech MX Laser) with this Nexus Silent Mouse is because the Nexus mouse requires AA batteries and it doesn't have back/forward buttons. :( I used to rue that too with laptop mice, but I don't mind another pair of rechargeab...

According to my electric bill (for the month of December): Delivery 430 kWh @9.1558¢/kWh Supply cost @12.9279¢ per kWh That makes it about 22¢ per kWh. Now that I'm happy with my quiet PC, I am now trying to silence my extremely noisy DirecTV DVR. The hard drive is always active because there's a diagnostic program running 24/7. Does the vibration from the PSU fan transfer to the case?
I'm going to use a Seasonic X-650 PSU on an Antec P183 case. When the PSU fan starts speeding up, will the vibration of the PSU create noise? I installed the PSU with regular screws, and I notice that the PSU is actually not touching the soft tape under it. It's kind of floating on it because the sc...
