FS NSK2400 on EBAY
I've put an Antec NSK2400 case on EBAY. Auction ends Tuesday Oct 06, 2009 at 16:00:55 PDT. This case was built-up but never put into service. The case is in like-new condition and will ship in the original carton with all originally supplied accessories, PSU and documentation. No bids thus far, so I...

Until you have to cram all the HTPC crapola into the chassis. I've been doing HTPCs for a while (I was a beta tester for the original version of XP Media Center), and the best case I've found hands-down (that's not in the insanity-level of price) is the OrigenAE x11 http://www.pcalchemy.com/product...

Origen (UNEED/DIGN) X11
I'm in the process of building up a new HTPC in the version 2 UNEED X11 case. The X11 IMO is beautiful with all aluminum construction, USB VFD with integral IR receiver and full support for XP Media Center edition remote codes and MCE VFD display. The X11 is fairly compact, yet uses a standard ATX P...

I've got two 250G Hitachi drives, one SATA and one PATA, both 7k250's (one PATA and one SATA) Good news is that neither one has the head reset noise, nor did I have to flash the drive's firmware to fix it. Bad news is the drives are not that quiet and vibrate enough that suspension will likely be re...

Nice review Mike, I've been using a Squeezebox2 for about a year now. The SB3, I understand, is a cosmetic upgade, only. I ripped 300 CD's using EAC to FLAC lossless, but was disappointed that they did not play on my Windows MCE HTPC. So, I transcoded via dbpoweramp to wma-lossless; which is now nat...

Are all SATA racks hot-swappable, like my external firewire/PATA enclosure now is, where you just do the "disconnect device" thing in Windows and then push the power button? For WindowsXP, it's in device manager. Go to Start - Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager; under disk drives, r...

Thanks to ryan45. Those athena at newegg enclosures look like they might be perfect. They're cheap enough to give a try at least. You're probably fine with the Prescott, but I think you friend may have gotten the better deal. That is, the Prescott is well documented as being less efficient when compared to the Northwood, i.e. less worked performed for equivalent processor speed. Also, the 2.4C Northwood processors can generall...

Following are my opinions: Your setup has some real negatives wrt silencing, the most glaring, the P4 Prescott and 4 Hard drives. With drives being pretty inexpensive these days, perhaps you should keep your quietest 160G drive and supplement it with a 250G - 400G drive, Maxtor, Samsung, Htachi or W...

BTW, depending on your distance from your computer, I wouldn't worry too much about the Spinpoint motor. You'll have enough fun as is with the modding and suspending without having to worry about the motor (i.e. I suspect the whine of a JVC motor will be the least of your concerns). I interpret thi...
