I have an antec 3480 with an Asus m2n-vm mobo, 8800gt, LynxTwo soundcard, and ninja scythe cooler. I'd rather keep with my current setup if possible as it works quite well apart from the cooling issue.

PCI card cooling query

Hi, I've got a mini atx case and a geforce 8800gt and a pci soundcard. There are only 2 pci slots in the case and the graphics card's fan covers one of them which means the soundcard sits on the remaining slot. This means that there isnt much gap between the two so the graphics card doesnt get much ...

Nice build, I just built myself my nsk 3480 with q6600 processor and ninja scythe fan. Looks pretty much like yours, there is NOO space between heatsink and case edge so all the wires have to go through the small hole on side of psu case which means my ide cdrom drive wont plugin. I'm getting a sata...

Sorry, I can hear it from the motherboard but its not very loud - the speaker sound easily overpowers it. It's a hissing sound.

I have it plugged into some Event tr8's which are magnetically shielded but i've tried it through some bog standard multimedia ones and i can hear it there too.

Really annoying sound!

Hi, I've written a few posts on this and I've found out that the whining sound I get in game menus comes from either the CPU or the motherboard around the coils. Anyway, I can't hear it from the motherboard, rather it is amplified through my speakers - loudly! Is this happening to anyone else? It's ...

It costs £40 to send it back to Germany!! Might just sell it.

And the PSU I might sell on ebay - cost less than sending that back too.

Oh well :?

I have read on this website that most machines only use up 250w of power, I thought getting a 430 one would be playing on the safe side - would I need a 600w one for this graphics card?

Whine issue - think I know what it is

I recently bought a Seasonic S12 430W PSU as I thought that was what was causing my whine in games however I am still getting the whine with this PSU. So, I swapped out my Gainward 7800GS AGP card for an ATI 8500 Radeon and it stopped happening so I think it's the graphics card. Obviously, I'm a bit...

the problem is that the whine transfers through my speakers so its amplified - its OK when I'm racing or shooting but in the quiet bits it sounds like there is a ghost in my room :)

Hi, Sorry to bump it but I think the whining is pretty much down to the PSU. The thing is it happens when the sound card isnt turned on. It happens a lot in certain games and I can hear it when i put my ear to the PSU. Its a Nexu 4090. I think its a coil whine noise. I did try a stock antec PSU with...

It's an asus k8v deluxe. Yeah I have an onboard sound setup but I think it is disabled (I'll need to check that though). The sound is only present in games so I thought it was psu related.

PSU making whining noises in games

Hi, Whenever I load games my computer makes weird spacey noises that whine through the speakers! When i go near the back of my pc it sounds like its coming from the PSU. Specs: 3200+ 64bit AMD 7800GS Gainwards 512mb graphics card (AGP) 2GB RAM 160GB HD 300GB HD Edirol PCI soundcard with breakout box...

Im just wondering whether to go ahead - I want silence above all and havent read many reviews on these 460s.
