Re: Slim 140 mm fan?

Thanks - seems like my choices are 13.5 or 25mm fans - I haven't found any 20mm fans yet.

Slim 140 mm fan?

Hello,

I checked - Noctua and Scythe don't make one but I thought I'd ask if there was a good brand that had a slim (20mm) 140mm fan? I found a 15mm Prolimatech and a 140mm aerocool. I'd prefer a round fan casing.

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

OK - I was being a total dork. The plate that you secure the cooler too on the CPU side can be screwed in in two directions. I took the cooler off - turned the plate and now I have JUST enough clearance. I could either get a slimmer fan, move the fan to the top to a pull configuration (touching the ...

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

So I tried the thermalright macho B. It is a nice cooler HOWEVER they are directional the heat pipes prevent you from turning it on the CPU. It can only point from front to back or back to front. You would need a metal shim and a longer securing plate if you wanted to turn it 90 degrees. My search i...

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

Do the silver things in the red outline get hot -(is that the MOSFET)? Yes, but you can't cool them with heathsinks, they are already encapsulated (and no, they look like chokes, which feeds the mosfets: GPU VRM is a power circuitry made mainly by mosfets, those black chips within the light blue ar...

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

http://www.1qaz2wsx.co.uk/AA4/a1.jpg I see 12 chips about 15mmx15mm surrounding the GPU (memory?), I see about 10 chips my guess is about 6x4mm to the right of the 4 15x15 chips to the right of the GPU (looking at the GPU side of the board) then about 6 sliver 10x10mm things and then another 12 5x4...

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

I see in your picture you attached heat radiators to your memory on the video card. Does it make much of a difference if I use thermal glue or self adhesive ones? Well in theory it should help, how much i cant say, the real gain is on the VRMs where the temp can go really high, even higher than the...

Re: Questions about the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV on a 980ti

but be careful with it because the bonds are permanent, and a little bit goes a long way. Just bond two opposite angles/ends and put TIM in between: this way you will be able to easily remove them with a razor blade, in case. Thanks do you mean use a tiny amount of the mixed glue on corners and put...

Make sure it will clear the RAM and other heatsinks on the motherboard.

Otherwise, there isn't much to worry about.

Re: Questions about the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV on a 980ti

I could use a lot of spoon feeding as I've never tried to put a replacement cooler on a GPU (CPU - yes - many). This looks significantly more involved than a simple CPU cooler and I don't even know what all the parts are. I'm guessing the 15mmx10mm chips are memory, the 10x10mm are moseft - not sure...

Re: Questions about the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV on a 980ti

Thanks for the advice on the 970 - I have the EVGA 780 and I might consider that method - will the EVGA card have enough power for 2 120 noctua's? I never had any problem with power or otherwise. The 92mm fans fit snuggly in the ACX cooler and the card used 2.5 slots. With 120mm fans you'll need 3 ...

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

True Spirit 140 has variations and the mounting systems allows some movement. Rev A looks like this: Actually the True Spirit 140 seems to offer a 4/5mm less clearance towards the PCIe slots. In case, it would be better to have the cooler fan facing up, not back. So there is no issue with changing ...

Re: Questions about the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV on a 980ti

There are two 980ti from PNY: Vanilla and XLR8 . The XLR8 is not so bad in terms of noise , though not as good as Asus or MSI. You could try if the Accelero fits with this VRM+RAM cooler on the XLR8 card. Alternatively you could use the XLR8 cooler with different fans. Remove the plastic shroud fro...

Re: Questions about the ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV on a 980ti

I'll consider other solutions if you feel strongly but the most I can go is a 3 slot solution. I have a card in the next slot down. I just noticed my motherboard has 1x16 then 2x1 then 1x16 again.

Any advice? 2 - will it work on any 980 ti card? 3 - Some person on YouTube said it ...

Re: Need a new CPU cooler with more clearance for my video c

I think about 15mm above the card should be fine. The current card is about 130x130plus the fan (130 from top to bottom - 155 from back of case to front of fan and about 155 tall from the CPU) I could easily fit something about 35mm taller - (190mm tall) I was looking at the Scythe Kotetsu but it is...

No monitor should make any sort of noise if built correctly, so no. It's been a long time since I came across a whining monitor, actually, 60, 120 or 144 Hz. Thanks! I really want to replace one of my main monitors as I'm short one on my spare PC. I want to move up to a higher refresh as games seem...

Do 144hz monitors make any noise?

Hello,

I'm desperate to find a 30" plus 16x9 or 16x10 144hz monitor for gaming and work. I can't seem to find any but I was curious if they 144hz monitors tended to make any more noise than 60hz monitors do.

Re: EVGA Hybrid vs. EVGA ACX vs other brands for noise level

I was so interested in the arctic, I double checked my case - I probably only have about 10mm of clearance above my card due to the massive cooler I put on my CPU. I think I'd have to forgo the top radiator (even though I really like it) as the top plate would probably add about 4mm alone. I have 15...
