Spacey, try reverting to non-overclocked settings. I have found that S3 will not resume correctly with some overclocks. It could also be a driver issue. Which version of the NVIDIA IDE drivers are you using, the SW IDE drivers or the "In-the-Box" drivers, which are slightly modified Microsoft driver...

so why does abit and msi (the only ones I think) still use active heatsinks? In many cases, it is because that is what their target market wants to see. "Ooooo, active cooling! That will get me that last 2 MHz on my FSB overclock! And that copper cooler looks great against the chartreuse PCB! Wow, ...

The ATX spec allows a +/-5% variation in the rails, so 11.6V is still within spec (between 11.4 and 12.6). I agree with Pjotor, a quiet case fan will probably help. Not only will it help expel the hot air inside the case, but it will also reduce the temperature inside the power supply. Power supplie...

That only seems to come into play when you're talking about very high FSB overclocks. Remember, these hard-core OC guys are as loopy as us hard-core silence freaks! I agree, but you will have a hard time convincing them of that. I forgot to put in the rolling eyes smiley, so here goes. :roll...

Actually, a lot of the overclocking community does swear by actively cooling the northbridge. Look at the NForcersHQ boards, and you will see scores of posts discussing how they removed the passive NB heatsinks and replaced them with heatsink/fan units, and then they do the same thing on the southbr...

I believe I saw a 320 matx at either SVC or Directron, you might look into that. Do you mean this one? A-Power 320 Watt mATX power supply... $29 http://www.directron.com/ap320w.html It caught my attention, as well. Unfortunately, this was one of the illegitimately rated power supplies that I was al...

Actually, I know for a fact that Enermax makes a 270W power supply, which *may* be enough. From looking at the specs, this seems to be a legitimate rating, as a opposed to one of those that give a "peak" value. http://www.enermax.com.tw/sfxwithpfc.htm I have no idea how much or little noise it makes...

Cyberpukish, If it makes you feel any better, the fan on my old Geforce2 also started making horrendous noises. I got sick of it, ripped it off, and put a generic Blue Orb knockoff on it. Unfortunately, the new cooler was attached only with sticky tape, and there were no mounting holes (wish I notic...

For whatever it's worth, I just got a 480W Tagan, plugged it in, and immediately heard an extremely loud "KLACK! KLACK! KLACK! KLACK! KLACK!" coming from the vicinity of the rear PSU fan. I am assuming that this is related to the bad solder problem, but this wasn't even subtle. It was so loud, it sc...

I found this compatability list on Zalman's website: http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/product/cnps7000a-462_motherboard_list_eng.html According to this, you will be required to cut off part of the HSF mounting clip in order to make it fit. However, you can still use the 4 mounting holes around the CP...

I have one of these coolers in my computer, and I agree that for its price, the Spire WhisperRock IV is a great value for a quiet cooler. It is the same thing as the Speeze VultureSpin, but in a different color. Spire and Speeze are both brand names of FannerTech. Oh, and it will fit Socket A/370/7,...

Seasonic Super Tornado 400 noise
Hey, all. I have recently purchased a Seasonic Super Tornado 400 power supply, and I am not all that happy with it. The main problem I have with it is that at around 1500 rpm, the fan makes this annoying low-pitched drone. It sounds kind of like an unbalanced CD in a CD-ROM drive. I am not sure if i...
