Happy owner of a WD Green 1 TB EARS here, would gladly put one in my NAS as well if the 1.5 TB in there ever needed replacement. Sadly they apparently are not supported for NAS RAID usage. ShareCenter Users, We regret to inform you that we can not support Western Digital’s new Desktop disk drives...

HDD suggestions for NAS
What's a good drive for a NAS?
I need a HDD that preferably runs pretty cool and doesn't use too much power.
500GB+ 5400 or 7200 doesn't matter.
I currently have a single Hitach P7K500 in my DNS-323 but I would like to run 2 drives in Raid 1, and since the P7K500 can't be bought anymore.

Any 4830,4850,9800 or 9800GTX that are quiet out of the box
Is there any HD 4830, HD 4850, 9800GT or 9800GTX that are quiet out of the box.
I don't mind if the fan ramps up a bit during gaming as long the card is close to silent when idle, like the stock HD 3850 was.

laptop style keyboard recommendations and feedback
Time has come to replace my UltraX Media keyboard, after a couple of years of intensive usage it now has a couple of sticky keys. I would buy another a new one but the only place I could find one in Canada is newegg.ca and the cost of the shipping is nearly as much as the keyboard itself. Not to men...

Kind of weird use, if you don't mind me saying. Well we don't have a TV and have been using that setup to watch movies and a couple of TV shows for quite a while now, haven't seen a commercial break in years :). Yeah the V20 would be my first choice as well, but since they are USB I am just...

Might want to consider Hitachi P7K500 500Gb drives as well. I bought one on boxing day, and it was an excellent surprise. It's simply put the quietest drive I have owned. Without even enabling AAM seeks are close to inaudible, the drive emit very little vibrations and stays very cool. Performance wi...

P7K500 feedback
Installed the P7K500 last night, and I must say I am impressed, it's the quietest HDD I have owned. Could be down to sample variance and also because I can compare it to the WD2500KS but unlike what Luminair said my P7K500 doesn't vibrate much. On the SPCR scale 1-10 (10 = no vibration) Assuming the...

We have wooden floor in the house, it's nice but seems to amplify the Hard drive vibrations transmitted to the computer case. While suspended the WD2500KS were fine, hard mounted I can hear the hum generated by the drives from the bedroom. For the P7K500 I am planning on removing the drive cage and ...

Low vibration HDD - P7K500
I know the Western Digital Caviar GP is the current champ when it comes to low vibration and minimal seek/idle noise but it is still a bit too pricey for me, so what's the next best thing? I am looking 500 GB and up HDD For reference I find my WD2500KS generate too much vibrations, they used to be s...

According to AC, you won't need heatsinks on the voltage regulators, just enough airflow over them. I wouldn't take that chance if you can't risk losing the money though. I am pretty sure AC did some serious testing before announcing the 8800 GT was compatible with the S1 and that no VRM heatsinks ...
