A8N-E + Zalman quick question
I have read almost all posts i can find about this topic, but there is still a few questions i havnt found an answer to. 1. i have an ATI X800XL with the zalman VF700-CU. I did not remove any of the fins on either the nb zalman cooler or the gfx zalman. The two coolers just touch and the gfx last fe...

I just got my new sp 200 sata disc. it is REALLY noisy compared to my old sp 160 sata.. i tried the hitaci tool to alter the aam settings, (it was disabled) the tool has some sort of test feature, but even when i sat aam to max 128, the test didnt improve the noise levels, so either the hitachi tool...

I have the ATI silencer for the radeon 9800pro, and im guessing that the NV silencer is just as loud if not louder.. i have a pretty silent setup, and the ati silencer is simply sounding like a cd-drive spinning.. its insane!! even at 7V its too loud, waaaaaay louder than a zalman zm80d with a fan r...

k, thanx for all youre replies,, i think im gonna try with a bit more thermal grease stuff on.. As for mounting the fan, should it be in a specifik way? what i originally did was just adding an 80mm. i just positioned it between the 2 spacers, with 2 screws in the top fan holes..(sorry again, im not...

i was affraid of that :( generally i have a pretty good airflow in my case, CPU at 41 degrees idle and about 47 durring load. Harddrive raches 31 degrees and is pretty stable. Mbm5 reports the mobo sensor to be only 20 degrees, (The same as the bios) but it does feel a bit varmer to the touch.. If t...

a few questions about ZM-80C & 9800pro
I have a 9800 Pro I recently switched from a ZM-80c with 80mm papst to one of the new artic coolers, but frankly these blows.. only if i run it at 5v does the clicking stop, so im affraid it doesnt really cool enough! So now im switching back! however if i run with the zm-80c and papst at 6v, the sc...

With two Spinpoints, you have 320GB. With only a DM10 (i.e. transfer everything from your old Spinpoint to a new DM10 and put the old Spinpoint in your parts box), you have 300GB storage. I know (from these forums) that one Spinpoint makes less noise than one DM10. But I don't know if two Spinpoint...

Kemokim, You should remember that an "idle" drive is still spinning. If there is no active I/O, the heads will not be moving. But the motor and platters are still spinning at 7200 rpm (or whatever the drive's speed is). So an "idle" drive still makes noise, just not seek noise. Ohh didnt know that ...

It would depend of your usage of the data. If you're using your PC to play background music stored on the DM10, then there will be a lot of reading. (But you might not hear it over the music ;) ) Also the tip, to put your swapfile on the other disk than your OS, someone posted above would generate ...

I have followed the massive amount of posts about the Maxtor DM10 in the last week or so. There is no one who has reported a Maxtor DM10 being audibly quieter than a Samsung Spinpoint. Most reliable reports say it is on par with or slightly better than a Seagate 7200.7 PATA. So if noise is your pri...

If you want to try another OS, this would be a good opportunity, and also would give you a backup OS in addition to any data backups you make. Or you could first duplicate your current drive to that one, and keep the old drive unplugged most of the time for backup, no idea exactly how drive duplica...

I put a gutted 92mm fan as a spacer between the panaflo & the hs. The fan seemed a little far away from the hs, but I wanted to alleviate the deadspot, so I marked the edges of the hs on the spacer & notched it about half way up. The spacer now sits down onto the hs......it's probably about a 10-12...
