Regular P4 has different VID (Voltage Identify Pin) order than Mobile P4. You can not bend VID pin, it have to be cut for lover voltage options if Your mobo does not give option to do it from bios. Most mopo´s dont have it. There is 5 pins telling mobo what voltage Your processor wanna use, in Mobil...

P4-M is defaulting multipier to 12x with every desktop board, no matter original speed of processor. That makes some limitations in desktop use. I am going to try also P4-M later this week, but there is much bigger "if" with this processor. Mobile Celeron is quite easy and it keeps multiplier as rat...

Mobile Celeron @ desktop
Now running Mobile Celeron (SL75J, 2400MHz 256Kb cache) and ASUS P4C800. MC has a default voltage of 1,3v, but in desktop board You get default voltage of 1,65 witch is way too high. I solved this simply bending VID4 pin flat outwards, now it defaults to 1,225v what is perfect. Tried MC also with So...

Let us know how it turns out :) Looking nice, slight noise when read/right, but still less noise than Seagate Barracuda ATA V. Toshiba was not even warm after Win install, Seagate was always HOT. Seagate was also bad vibrator, Toshiba dont vibrate at all. Dont know much about speed, didnt notice an...

How about P4-M? You didn't include them in your rankings. And they can fit on a S-478 mobo. Dont work on Abit 865/875, Asus boards 865/875 needs bios 1012 and older. Most 845 should work tought You have always multiplier 12x no matter whats original speed. Mobile Celerons should remain original mul...

Centrino and E7205?
Anyone tried this? "Pentium M processors utilise Socket 479, while conventional Pentium 4 chips use Socket 478 and our hardware analysts believe that there is possibility to install a Pentium M chip on a desktop mainboard. In fact, Intel itself even demonstrated Pentium M and E7205-based computer at...
