Just floating an idea here.... Yes, I would be interested. Excellent idea (even if you don't know who the heck I am!) Commander Jameson, how nice to finally meet you! I really enjoyed our exchanges throughout the last round! Yup was good fun... must do it again some time. And may I thank you person...

So, to sum it up, how did we fare? #4,8,9,10 and where did rbrodka finnish? 11? how about you DryFire? Starfish? I'd say we would give the rest of the galaxy a run for it's money (well, at least some of us has actually donated yet, me excluded:) if we wanted to... Technically, you could add #3 to t...

I have that mobo. Not sure if it uses the nVidia Gig-E/Firewall - it's basically a mobo that some OEM or other is using that has somehow found its way into the retail channel as well. Haven't noticed any settings for a firewall in the BIOS and wouldn't know about the Gig-E as only have a 100mbps rou...

Mine is still working fine. Sits outside the case not without any fans blowing at it. Runs climateprediction.net 24/7 on a A64 3000+ machine. Been on continuously for about 2-3 weeks now. Feels warm to the touch but not hot. EDIT: Serial number is D04125432010 Arrived from overclockers.co.uk 14th Ja...

I've done this for a wall-mounted cabinet housing 2 computers running pretty damn quietly together. For mobo mounting, I took the trays out of old cases (although IIRC some companies e.g. kustompcs.co.uk allow you to order them separately). Same for optical drive mounting. For the doors, I use a com...

To combine the original topic and MikeC's potential project, I see the entire issue as the following: You have several, small (in size) sources of heat in a computer. These components need to be kept at <65 deg C (for the sake of argument) under all loading conditions. You have one recepticle for th...

There are ones also available specifically made to fit round a bottle of wine as a sleeve. I have one here with the name "Rapid Ice" written on it. I just gave it a try around an old floppy drive, and it seems to fit perfectly - snug as a bug and completely wrapping around it. Also almost exactly th...

I have actually been thinking about something similar recently for my next project - more of that in a second. For you, option A you would surely get a lot of the air only going through the top part of the heatercore? Option B might work; however introduces another fan. Option C seems to be the best...

Actually I met up with Carl (of WACC) a long while ago, and these where in the design phase a long time before anyone had heard of the Zalman reserator... so despite appearances it's not a rip-off. If anyone thinks they can make one of these out of copper, go ahead and try... the extrusion process w...

Matrox: G400 is passive (I'm pretty sure, anyway). G400MAX is active. G450 is passive. G550 is passive. P650 is passive. P750 is active. Parhelia is active. For the P series cards, it is possible to buy separately the bits to turn the passive P650 into a triplehead card (effectively a P750). This th...

Stick with the G400, replace the HSF with a bigger passive HS, and you should be fine. Underclock with PINS file mod if required (at least I think this can be done - run search for "G400 PINS" at http://forums.matroxusers.com/ . The reason I say stay with the G400 is for the exceptional native on ch...

Neil - have you tried updating the BIOS on the Matrox P650? AFAIK flashing it will fix the garbled POST screens (the other alternative is usually to disable any boot logos). This problem existed with the original Parhelia - I can't really believe that Matrox didn't fix it in the shipped BIOS with th...

OK, I've done a little bit of research. It would seem that the rating (in W) under British standards is for a delta-T of 50 deg C: http://www.plumbingpages.com/featurepages/BSEN442.cfm Now for a typical watercooling system in a PC, we would probably be looking at more like a delta-T of 15 deg C betw...

What about using normal house radiators?
Has anyone ever tried using a normal household radiator in a watercooling setup? I may be being naive, but surely they could dissipate as much heat as a Reserator at about a tenth of the price? OK they are designed for significantly higher temperature differentials, and you might well need a beefy p...

As a heads-up, for those in the UK, WACC http://www.wetandchillychips.co.uk/ have just got something similar - should be ready for sale within the week, available in a number of lengths and colours - this one uses an external pump however. Should be around £30-£40. See the threads here: http://wetan...
