I have a Sonata case and the Intel D875PBZ mobo and did install a Zalman 7000 alcu. The fit is fine with good clearance between the PS and Zalman 7000. I would install the Zalman on the mobo outside the case . Also make sure the PS is installed first. You can't remove the PS without removing the Zal...

There are two areas to look at when installing the Zalman 7000 HS. One is the compatiblity with your mobo (ie:clearance from caps/hs on mobo) and the other is compatibilty with the case (ie: clearance from bottom of PSU and top Zalmam HS). I don't think size of the PSU is a factor as the case dictat...

When I replaced my stock Antec fan in my Sonata and added the optional front fan for my drives (with two Evercools 120mm) I called Antec support and they sent me extra rubber grommets, no charge. A plus for Antec support in my book. BTW these grommets, according to the tech, are not reuseable. Just ...

Thanks bomba; I like your idea of a half partition duct considering the ease of routing the powe cables. I'll give it a try this weekend and post results. BTW, it looks like we have very similar rigs. What are your temps running? My case temps run 28c to 34c and cpu on average 3 degees higher at amb...

Muffled; I have the newer 380s PSU with the SATA connector and the rear intake grate not the slots, so I think I'm ok on PSU rear intake. Bomba: I think I might try the PSU intake duct idea. What would you use for the duct and how would you handle the PSU cables? Also, do you think it would be wise ...

Muffled: I just resd your thread, don't know how I missed it before my post. I have a Sonata case and I think you have a BQE which from what I've read are very similar. I think both these cases suffer from restricted intake air flow (ie:front bezel and horizonal drive cage configuration). I have don...

Thanks for the input and advice. I think with this temp difference and the fact that I really can't do much more than I already have to improve the intake air flow (ie:lower front bezel mod) I'll just be happy with the status quo.

Temps down with side panel removed?

Can anyone confirm that if your temps drop with the side panel removed that it means your intake airflow needs improvement. I think I have read this on a few threads, but can't recall for sure. My Sonata temps drop two to three degrees with the side panel off. I'm running two Evercool 120mm (optiona...

Right now I'm just running it off the fan only molex on the PSU. It runs between 1100 to 1450 rpm. I'll try a fan mate on it in a few days to see the difference. There seems to be more air moving noise than the original Antec, but then again this fan is moving more air. BTW can anyone give me a link...

Got the Evercool 120mm installed yesterday, replacing the stock Sonata Antec. The noise level seems just alittle quieter than the Antec, but it certainly moves more air. Now I am hearing the PSU fan over everything else. I guess this the way things work. Quiet down one thing and what you didn't hear...

Ralf, the Comp USA part# is EQ40221B and the SKU# is 296209 for the plastic frame model. I don't have the Comp USA numbers for the AL model, but I did see the Evercool name on the side of the fan frame. The prices are $14.99 for the plastic frame and $19.99 for the AL frame. I haven't had a chance t...

Picked up an Evercool EC12025M12BA (Plastic frame/Two ball bearing) at Comp USA today. They have the AL model also. They are packaged under the Comp USA name, but have the Evercool lable on the back of the fan with model number etc. This will replace the stock Sonata rear fan.

I would go with the ALCU because of the CU's weight issue. Also there is the fit issue with either of these coolers. The Zalman website has compatibility info for mobos etc. It's important to keep in mind there are two factors concerning fit: 1. Does it fit on the mobo. 2. Will it fit in the case.(V...

Vantec Iceberg 4?

Has anyone tried this VGA cooler? I haven't seen any mention of it in this forum. I'm still waiting for AC Silencer Rev.3 to become available in my area, but ran across this at Fry's the other day. I have no idea of how quiet it is compared to the very loud stock fan on my 9600PRO. Anybody know? PhilC

Quiet an 9600PRO Fan

I would like to quiet down my very loud ATI 9600PRO stock fan and have decided to go with the AC VGA Silencer Rev.3 when it becomes available in my area. In the mean time could I safely reduce the fan speed with a Zalman Fan Mate 1? I don't know if would drop the noise level enough, but I'm sure it ...

ZM80-HP or AC VGA Silencer?

Hi All, This is my first post on this forum, but have been lurking for a few weeks. I have read most of the posts on the ZM80-HP and the AC VGA Silencer, but have not seen one concerning anyone that had a ATI 9600 PRO. I know this card does not put out the heat like a 9800 does and I'm wondering if ...
