Re: SPCR Folds Team Blog
Way to ramp things up, Michael_qrt! http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=34869 (weekly chart shows a really nice trend) Thanks, it's been getting gradually cooler in the southern hemisphere so I can stand running my main machine 24/7 and I recently overclocked the cpu. I pus...

Thanks. I just updated my folding machines a few months ago, finally adding my Q9400 on the SMP client (with passcode!!!) and now we're moving along a bit faster.cordis wrote:Hey hey, way to go, very nice, michael_qrt!!! And don't sell yourself short, you're 16th highest production on the team!

It's taken almost 7 years and quite some point inflation but I've finally made it to the 1,000,000 point club!!!

Well I tried the fans out briefly in an open air situation and thought they were pretty good and would be suitable for my application. I don't have the widest variety of fans to compare them with but here goes: The 80mm fan reminds me very much of the 80L panaflo fans that I've had for a few years n...

I've actually bought a 120mm and 80mm version of these fans from pc case gear. The reason I went for them is that they were about half the price of the nexus fans here in Australia (check the prices on pc case gear to see what I mean). They're sitting at my parents place at the moment awaiting a new...

Re: I dunno.....
Heat pipes exchange heat by dumping from the high heat source, to the material inside, which gassifies/boils/whatever. With the card installed in a tower case, this unit will be hanging upside down, with the graphics card above, like normal. All this means, all the fluid inside the heatpipe, gravit...

You could be right Tibors, I could be remembering incorectly or thinking of something else. It's my brother's machine so I don't have access to one right now or else I'd check it again for myself. I am pretty sure though that when I covered up both sides the straight through airflow was reduced. Any...

[*]wider but shalower fins (so the fan probably blows the air straight through the tower in stead of out the sides) [/list] Actually with the freezer64 air is sucked in from the sides of the heatsink as the fan blows through. This is based on the Bernouli principle and also my own experiment. If yo...

the by far easiest way to measure the Wattage of your entire rigg is just lend a Amp meeter (clamp kind that you just put around the cable without removing any insulation) from a friend, and take amp you get times the voltage (say, 10 A x 230 volt (europe) or 20 amp x 110 Volt and there u go, watta...

Back to the topic at hand.... It seems that although we are attracting a steady stream of new users to the team, they are coming at about the same rate as current users are leaving. I think that what really got the team kicking and probably what got me to join was when there was a lot of discussion ...

It actually should be fine to install it in any orientation, assuming gigabyte have used good quality heatpipes (which they surely have to some extent). Good heatpipes actually do not rely on gravity to circulate the fluid inside the pipes. Of course gravity still has an effect but it has been found...

It is possible on the ultra-D board. In fact I and several others on this forum have already set systems up in this way. You just have to shift the jumper blocks and then you can plug the card into the lower slot with no problems. Just as a word of warning about using the passive zalman chipset hats...

Yeah, that dosn't look bad. Especially if that board will support some overclocking. I wonder if going for one of the new 90nm semprons and overclocking would be a better cost/performance ratio though. Anyway, it's not like I'm in a position to afford either the time or money to setup a folding farm...

Great info macman! I'd also like to know about the possibility of running the two slots at x8 speed, as using the lower slot seems like the best option for me. Hey, DFI's site seems to have gone down for me, from right when I was trying to download the manual. OK, just an update to say that I've managed to re-enable the L2 cache. It turned out that I must have loaded the fail safe defaults at some stage, cause simply loading the optimised defaults fixed the problem. I think it's a bit unfortunate that there really is no indication in the bios as to what l...
