Anybody do any mods to make a PS4 quieter?
Hello all Has anybody done any work on the PS4 to make it quieter? My PS4 is generally quiet but the fan ramps up on high load games. The fan noise doesn't have a bad characteristic to it, but it's still louder than I'd like. I heard that poorly applied/poor quality thermal paste is a common issue f...

Re: Looking for a Quiet 3TB 7200 drive
Thread hijack... but what is the difference between the
Seagate ST3000DM001 and the Seagate STBD3000100 ?
A quick Newegg search reveals the Toshiba DT01ACA300 and the Toshiba PH3300U-1I72 as other 3TB/7200rpm hard drives. Could anybody recommend one?

I use the CS4 suite every day, lots of Pshop (large 1 gig PShop files are common). I use the stock card that came with my Mac Pro Dual Quad Core Xeon, which is a lowly ATI Radeon HD 2600 256MB, no issues. The only real time that 3D performance is needed is for screen redraw, and this new "feature" ...

Thanks easyrider, but I saw from newegg reviews that some people had issues with dual monitor support on the Powercolor. The "quiet" HIS is also no longer an option because it takes up two slots (more info follows). I want a Radeon 4670 for it's power usage and performance, but I'm limited by these ...

Is there a non-passive cooled version of this card that's near silent when idle? I'd like to get a 512 MB version of this card because I'm running Win XP 32-bit (my sound card isn't supported by 64-bit OSes) and I don't game much , so I'd like to maximize the system RAM as much as possible. I edit p...

I've been using these for the last year or so: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823155003 The buttons are pretty quiet, but still responsive. It feels solid. I've had trouble putting the buttons back in place after removing them, but other than that they've worked fine. It's not...

thermalright xp-90 on AM2+ mobo
I have an XP-90 lying around. It seems like a perfectly capable heatsink. Enough for a Phenom II (no OC) with a Panaflo 80L on top, yes? The AM2+ mobo has 4 screws to connect the retention plate right (while a S754/939/940 has 2 screws)? So, to fit the XP-90 on an AM2+ mobo, I'd have to get somethin...

touch of death killing my pc(s) need help on new build
Hi, Here's the story of my old computer (A64 3200 S754 AGP DDR1): it worked great for 3-4 years without ONE crash. Then one day, it died. I didn't do anything special. I shut it down, went to work, got back from work, turned it on, and after getting past the BIOS but not any further: "DISK BOOT ERRO...

WTB: S754 processor
Hello,
I'm looking for a socket 754 processor, preferably faster than a Newcastle A64 3200+. (I happened to come upon an S754 mobo and I need a proc to pair it with for a low budget build)
Thanks. I reside in the states (CA).

http://www.bfgtech.com/freeupgrade.aspx If you have a BFG AGP vid card in working condition, you might be eligible to get a PCI-E vid card for teh cost of shipping. I have one, but it might not be working, and I happened to replace the heatsink with a Silencer of some kind. I have the old heatsink....

upgrading computer but conflicted with components
So my computer of 4 years seems to have died. I spent a month trying to figure out what was wrong and it seems to be the motherboard. Here are the specs: Athlon 64 3200 S754 ECS 755-A2 (I think) 2x 1GB DDR1 RAM AGP Nvidia 6800 GT I'm trying to search for a used motherboard to continue to chug on, bu...

with intake fans and a positive air pressure setup you can filter dust. with only exhaust fans the dust comes in at every opening, like optical drives ect. Yup, that's how I understand it. Positive pressure! Besides, many cases have intake fans blowing directly onto hard drives, and even the slight...

AndyHamp, It seems like most other reviews are rating the 4670 very well for power consumption. From the 4670 thread in the video sub-forum: These have it as good: http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/amd_ati_radeon_4670_performance_review/page17.asp http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=15393&p...

This looks like a great card. I'm someone concerned about power consumption at idle, since I don't game that often. But it'd be nice to know I have the power to play HL2/TF2 at 1680x1050 if I need it. What other cards are out there that I should consider for low idle power consumption with decent ga...

Old BarracudaIV seeks louder than before, cause for concern?
I have an old Seagate Barracuda IV (I actually use it in my xbox), but yesterday I noticed that its seeks are louder than they used to be. It doesn't sound unusual for a hard drive, but I don't think it's normal for a Seagate Barracuda IV. Should I be worried that it's going to die soon?

I'm really thinking about getting the 320 GB SATA version. I've been looking to buy a 250-320 gig HDD for sometime and based on what I'm reading, the 7200.10 seems like it's what I'm looking for: quiet and big. My mobo is an ECS 755-A2. The southbridge is the SiS 964. Is there anything I should be c...

where to get Yate Loon 80mm (north america)?
I'd do more reading but I'm in a bit of a rush to get them (a tad urgent), so please forgive me. 1) Is http://store.yahoo.com/pctekonline/8cmcasefan.html still a reliable source for the 80mm? What appears to be the main Yate Loon thread had issues with the 120mm, but didn't mention much about the 80...

Quiet and cheap power supplies?
I made a thread before asking about it for my roommate and people recommended the Fortron FSP300-60PN. Now I need one for my mom's comp, because I upgraded her computer and it looks like her old PSU can't handle it. However, the Fortron's not on newegg anymore. Is there another quiet PSU at about th...
