Not all MSI 5200's are passive, I think I even heard of one that had just a fan blowing at the chip! Ironically, some newer PNY 5200's are passive. It looks like this http://www.pny.com/products/verto/mainstream/5200agp.asp , right? Are you sure the heatsink is made of copper? An FX5200 does not nee...

I think above the card is as good a place as any for the heatsink, the heat from it rises and then gets pulled out by the case and/or power supply fans. I have seen bent heatpipes, ones from a zalman hard drive cooler I think, since that was the cheapest source of heatpipes. So maybe if you have som...

Spinpoints are not supposed to generate a lot of heat on their own, but I think it's possible that they may not be able to endure much heat, baracudas run hotter but have higher warranties and MTBF ratings. This has been a worry of mine, I just got a 120 gig spinpoint, and it's above an 80G baracuda...

Even so, some stock cards, unmodified the day they came out with the bo...

 I heard first big zalman heatpipe heatsink, the ZM80 (pre-A) I think, needed to be toned down because it was too heavy. A 750 gram heatsink on a video card sounds dangerous, and even 440g seems like a little much, especially if thermal adhesive has a lower limit. Wouldn't a flower be suffici...

Aren't video cards limited to 3.3v and 5v power unless they're using supplementary connectors? AFAIK, one of those zalman "quiet mode adaptors" would take out a lot of power from a 5v line(due to higher amperage being neccesary to compensate or something like that), though my 92mm zalman fan still s...

I don't think it will be loud, but it'll probably be weak. You might not even need the ramsinks, their usefullness is questioned. Normally I'd be more worried that with 16 ram chips, the heatsinks on some of them will interfere with the cooler, but since your ram already had heatsinks maybe it needs them, but 5900U's don't normally use the hot running GDDR2...

A common spec for fans is 10%. However, depending on the make that can be a "catch-all". I always assumed that was mostly to take into account power that's somewhat of. Mine's a little high, around 12.35V. o EBM-Papst generally 1-2% o Panaflo generally vary 1-1.4% For example, qty-100 1900rpm Panaf...

"Order more" has a potential double meaning here. I assume you mean another tube, but at first I thought you meant one of the nice big 8ml tubes isntead of the regular 1ml ones. Kind of hard to find, but they seem like a great deal.

So were both your 9600's shorted out?

I find the 12v to 5.5v resistor that comes with some zalman products rather pointless compared to pluging the fan into the 5 volt line, plus it broke. I have two 8cm vatnec stealths from before I heard of this site, and I've been wondering why for one the RPM readings are 2100 for one and 2300 for the other.
