I agree with Mongobilly, Athlon 64 3000+ on Socket 939. If you want slightly lower cost then the socket 754 with a Sempron 3000+ is also a good buy.
It maybe not as future proof as 939 but certainly cheaper and with most of the performance.

This power supply isn't call GREEN POWER just because its got high efficiency. To compile with the European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive, the weight and use of hazardous materials has been reduced. This makes it easier to recycle and therefore will be cost less for Fort...

Looks like a winner except being second best (just 2 W more, nevermind) at the lowest output. Draws 32 W less than the Phantom at their highest load? If true, then we're really talking high efficency! The Phantom have a 86-87 % efficency at that output and 120 V, so even better at 240 V, which shou...

3. No CF card is comparable in speed to a CD-ROM drive. No thumbdrive is comparable in speed either, AFAIK. Also, getting USB booting to work with Windows is...challenging, to say the least. Give it a few weeks and i'm sure Fortron will have these to market.
Interestingly the specs on the UK site says:
• Under 25dBA low noise design
The global site says:
• Under 30dBA low noise design
I guess they thought us Brits will believe anything!

There is no heatsink design on the market that can't be made in a copper version without breaking the motherboard (thanks to third party mounting mechnanisms) so none of that matters at this point. If someone was to create such a giant then it would matter but until then, we don't have to make such...

As Bluefront says, this debate comes down to not whether aluminium is better than copper but instead what’s more important, surface area or conduction efficiency? If the two heat sinks have the same surface area then copper will win, but if you used the same weight of both materials and made them as...

This is all about perceptions. You perceive a DM10 to be silent but others may not. The other issue which alot of people find when starting out on silencing is they think they know what’s causing all the noise. They change that item and are surprised when the general noise level of there computer do...

But does the Athlon 64 2800+ s.754 ClawHammer (0.13) support c'n'q and allows multiplier and fsb change on the fly? I've read i post that it doesn’t - but it was only one opinion that I found - and maybe this was mobo issue, because not all mobo support c'n'q? Anyone to confirm/deny this? I have an...

1. Does the program need PowerNow to work? I am thinking of trying this in a desktop board first. As far as I can tell, the MB supports Mobile Athlon XP-M. What does this mean? Normally the computer uses little power even if the computer is turned off (+5VSB rail). I haven't measured it, but it's more than 1W.
