I "upgraded" my FT02 from the old type fans (with removable honeycomb grills) to the APs.
No difference in temps, but slightly increased noise. However, the APs spin at slightly higher RPMs so that could account for the noise.

Re: SilverStone Fortress FT02 Revisited
If I remember correctly, the AP 181s run around 700 rpms at their "LOW" setting. I find them fairly noisy at that level, but just a slight reduction in speed (say 600-650) takes off a lot of the noise. I think my buddy with the watercooled FT02 runs them around 600 rpm. Either way his machine is qui...

Re: SilverStone Fortress FT02 Revisited
I upgraded the front panel USB on my FT02. It's a simple job, at just a question of four screws and some cable routing. Silverstone can sell you the part if you email them, and some online retailers carry them. Also - the "drop in" 3x180mm radiator for the FT02 helps make a ridiculously quiet gaming...

Re: Pretty cool completely passive <20w mini pc
sandy runs hot, amd tend to run cooler, that was the whole reason why the guy used amd I think. I'm looking into building almost the same system (m-ATX board in the hifi-format FC5 OD) and unfortunately Intel just won't do in this case. Why? Well, this will be a 3D-HTPC and an AMD A6-3500 has a pro...

Re: Just installed a Noctua NH-C12P SE14
Did you find a reasonable solution to the fan not always spinning up?
I have one of those 140mms too, and sometimes it refuses to start up at 12 volts. The shop tested it against another one and concluded that this is just how they were.

Assuming you mean appropriate luggage for sending a complete PC in checked-in luggage, I am afraid I refuse to believe there is any luggage available that will reliably let a PC survive being thrown 10-15 feet to land smack on tarmac.

Re: serious problem with (amazon) ads using android browser
I have the same problem - and some halfway workarounds: - the Amazon ad doesn't always seem to extend all the way to the edges. If I drag the link I want to click close to an edge of the screen, it becomes easier to click it instead of the Amazon overlay. - how I click the link seems to matter. If I...

When you say "temperature controlled", have you got them all running off the CPU PWM fan header? I'd be keen to see what you've done here. My motherboard (Crosshair IV Formula) has a lot of fan headers; - the CPU fan header that I have controlling both fans of a Noctua NH D14 on the supplied Y-spli...

I upgraded from a P182 to a FT 02. That is, I moved all the internals over because the former was running too hot for my liking. That P182 had 4x Scythe S-Flex fans on temperature control, running between 800 and 1200 RPM depending on CPU temp. When I put in a second 5850 graphics card the temps and...

How easy would you say it is to remove/clean the front and bottom (PS) fan filters? The front filters are a little work to remove. The filters are attached to plastic brackets; the fans clip into these brackets; and the brackets are screwed (4 small screws each) to the case itself. I imagine I will...

I've had this case up and running for a little while now. It's not Antec quality. Build quality is not bad, but the sheet metal is very thin so I guess it really needs its stick-on asphalt dampening plates. Speaking of the dampening plates; I just received a replacement set from Fractal Design free ...

I've been thinking about this kind of case myself, particularly as I took the lid off my NSK2480 and looked at all the wasted space. I'd also really like a case for a Micro-ATX motherboard, a Pico-PSU, a 2.5" drive - and nothing else. Well, half- or even full-height expansion cards would be nice, bu...

We have the very same problem. Doesn't all states wrestle with this? And how does a flat system benefit our cause? I doubt the rich would suddenly start paying up just because it's "flat". (Quite to the contrary I believe that if we let the rich get richer they get to keep even more means that they...

What's not making sense? If you're referring to the flat contra progressive tax system: Do you think it's the actual progressiveness of the rates that makes it all complicated? Flat taxes for example benefits the rich and we all know the rich already has become so much richer all over the world (globalization effect probably) with increased social tension as a result. And of course flat taxing only changes the percentage payed in different income brackets and certainly do...

The next model does just that; same appearance but a slim optical -- in the back, actually.AuraAllan wrote:Thats pretty nice but a bit wide at 85mm. If it allowed a slim optical drive 85mm would be okay.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I was looking for something similar; I wanted to build a mini-ITX WHS server for 24/7 operation. At the time the Atom motherboard didn't come with GLAN and VIA's motherboards were fairly pricey. So I ended up going full-ATX with an AMD solution quite similar to my HTPC: a 780g motherboard and an Ene...
