I just got the Gigabyte verison of the 5770 for my new P55 i5-750 system and its extrememly quiet. With a Thermalright Ultra 120 with 120mm Nexus fan, Intel SSD and WD Green 750 gig drive, its more or less inaudible. I played some NFS: Shift at 1920x1080 with 4x AA and all quality options set to hig...

My WD4000KD first look and impressions
Well Im still wating to get in the i-RAM, but I just got in some of the new 400GB 16MB form Western Digital. First impressions in my view are that they are pretty quiet. Ther is no whining at all, just the smooth whooshing sound of air over the platters. Its no louder than my existing 3200JD which I...

According to the Gigabyte rep I talked to, he said they are RAID-able. Im going to try it regardless. FWIW, we have been talking to Corsair about getting in RAM and they are going to contact Gigabyte about when it is available and possible moving us up the chain in getting some review samples in. Th...

There are some graphs vs a regular SATA drive here: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2005/05/31/gigabyte_ramdisk/ , but that is the only info regarding measured sppeds I have been able to find. I didnt get any info regarding RAID speeds, but he did say it would defenitiely work. I will be calling them n...

I spoke to a Giigabyte product manager and he said it could take 2GB sticks to make an 8GB drive, but its very pricey and hard to find. He also told me they are testing a lot of different RAM for compatibility and they are still expecting a release of around mid-july. What about making them SATA II...

Another thing to watch for - the 24-pin ATX power cable just barely reached from my S12-500, but the 4-pin ATX power cable was short (this is to an A8N-SLI). Could be a problem with other motherboards as well. -Art Its too bad that it wont reach since I have same MB and planned to buy S12-600 and P...

Its soo easy to put the page file on the second drive and it is by far the most reccomended way of using a page file that I cant think of any reason to not put it on the second drive. BTW, even if you tell windows to not use a page file, it will make one anyway and it will be on the root drive on a ...

Run the OS on the Rator with your programs. If you short partition the drive - make it 20 gigs and leave the rest of the drive unpartitioned - you can actually reduce seek times even lower. When you partition the large storage drive, make a static page file of 400 to 500 MB right away so it is on th...

If you are going to remount the HS, I would reccomend applying the thermal paste the way arctic silver reccommends for processors with heat spreaders: Put a small glob in the center of the processor and mount the HS. Pressure and heat will spread out the compund and give the best results. Using the ...

Your temps really arent that out of line and are very safe. Some questions that need to be addressed are what kind of thermal compound and how much was used. What is your ambient air temp? What kind of numbers were you getting with the stock HSF? Is it a prescott or northwood CPU? I personally have ...
